why is my ps3 keep turning of by its own. it started doing it after i first played assains creed which i got last week. can any 1 help?

It might be overheating.

do u keep it in an enclosed space?
or in a cabinet with no air getting to it???

It definitely sounds like an overheating problem.
Your PS3 needs a good amount of space to the right and behind the system as this is where the hot air from inside is sent out.

Yeah it really soesnt do shit if you have it verticle. All you need is some space around it and you will be fine. I ceraintly have mines verticle cuz it looks hot. I have a question though, might as put it here. When I play CoD4 sometimes my ps3's fan goes loud. I mean like LOUD. Is there anything wrong.

just warming up. i mean i live in basically a freezer. my fan never comes on. but during the summer it's a sauna almost and my fan comes on after like 5 min.
so i'd say nothing is wrong with ur ps3 or fan. just it's getting a little warm so fan kicks into overdrive. maybe give it more space...that's all. if something were wrong, it'd shut down.

i'm not sure that overheating is the only problem. i just got mine brand new, took it out of the box plugged it in, and i got as far as setting the time before it kept turning off. could it be something else?

well i'd suggest a power outage? but then the entire house would turn off, not JUST the ps3 so nvm bout that....
cable plugged in good? like it's fully in, not just partly?
uhm... maybe really a power outage like hooked into a power strip and an animal stepped on the switch n turned it off?
so other than overheating....that's all i can really think of EXCEPT bad ps3. like something INSIDE of it is wrong and nothing u can do except send it back to sony....or go to ur store and get a diff one.
so yea...that's all i can think of since u don't have it on long and it goes off. power outage, cable not fully plugged in, or else a faulty ps3.
so maybe put it in a WIDE OPEN space...like the floor and having nothing within a foot of it... just to test it. if it works and doesn't shut off, i'd say it's an overheating problem and put it where it was and move other things or just find a new place. (btw, floor is never a good idea, but if u put it there for 30-45 mins JUST to test it overheating, then it's ok)

Yep, tried it. I just now spent 30 minutes on the Technical Support line (that's going to kill my phone bill this month calling from Africa!) and the final result is that i have to mail it back to the U.S.

Ah, too bad. I had the 'shutting down' problem, though my PS3 lasted about 4 or something months, before that happened....
In a way, I was lucky that there was a relatively nearby repair shop, so I didn't have to mail it in....Though it might have taken longer that way, since I could have mailed it in, instead of waiting until I got back before having my mom drive me to the shop....
PS3 works fairly well now...
I can't remember what the problem was, I think it was some sort of power related device is messed up....If I remember correctly, it sounds almost like a car related device....
