Well, I managed to befriend Woody and get enough gold and lumber to build the third house extension. I have come across a large problem, however.

My problem is that there is always something in the way when I go to remodel. At first I got rid of some of my crops that were in the way, but it still didn't work. Then I got rid of all the weeds. That didn't work either. The only thing left are a few tiny twig-like stumps and trees. How do I get rid of those?

I only have an iron axe, so do I need to upgrade that before I can place my house?

You need to get rid of trees, and those huge boulders. I don't remember if stumps need to be removed, though.

I heard rumors that you can't chop trees with the iron axe, but I can't remember if I did it before or after I upgraded, so I can't verify that. I BELIEVE you can chop down a tree before upgrading, but it'll take a lot of swings to do so, perhaps around 20 or so >.<; I know I tried counting once, but then I got bored and stopped XD

Okay, thanks so much Quierta.

I love this game but it causes me frustration sometimes.

Also, I was just wondering if it's a good strategy to purchase all three plots and use the town plot as a vacation home, the river plot as your crop field and the beach plot as your ranch?

Well, this is what I do.
I buy the village center property for my house, then use river side for my crops, and ocean side for the barn. It makes sense, but you dont have to do it if you dont want to, thats only my opinion.

You know, that makes a lot of sense, but then I'd have to restart my game... again.

That is a very good strategy, though. Pity I didn't think of it.

I had the same problem. I chopped down the stumps and it was gone. Try that?
Hope I helped

I used the cliff for my vacation home. You can hear the ocean AND there's a nice view. I've forgotten wht it's called though.

For the third house extenstion I had to demolish my watering hole. I had to steal water from the Blue Sky Ranch.
