Well, it's still A-Z on the artist order, but numbers now come last instead of first. I toggled the artist button and the numbers come first, but after numerics it goes Z-A. How do I fix that?

The numbers were placed after the letters in the recent update, so unless you mean the numbers go 0-9, then the letters go Z-A, I don't know (as they chould go A-Z, 0-9 now).

Yep, that's what the update did according to a "solved" discussion thread. That seems kind of dumb to me. I haven't updated iTunes yet. I'm kinda glad I didn't even though I don't have artists with numbers in their names.

Is it possible to get the previous version back?

If you uninstall the newest version you can install an older version. You can find some at Oldversion.com.
