iPod Linux

I can't use it as I have a shuffle (it also doesn't work with the second gen nano) so I don't have experience with it. It fully supports up to Gen 3 iPods with the rest having partial support. It allows you to install modules on the iPod that can add features or games.

Rockbox is another Open Source program that you can put on your iPod but I haven't heard that much about it.

I'm not sure how one would go uninstalling them off the iPod but restoring the iPod should remove them. I don't believe iPod linux will void you warranty (I'm not sure about rockbox).
