Why would you want some place to host your video and then put it on your Video iPod? Wouldn't you just rather put it straight on your video iPod?

Is there any reason why iTunes won't do it for you? If you need a converter, try 3GP converter. It's free and it's pretty quick. It's in Japanese by default so you'll need to change the language.

A .jpg is an image file, not a video. If you were trying to download a video you accidently saved the picture instead of the video.

It depends on the site and format. Some sites will have a link in which all you have to do is save link as or save target as. Others might not have a download link so you'll have to search the source of the page and still others don't have links so you'll need to find some other way to get the video.
