I could go on for awhile. Google and Youtube for Cydia apps and tweaks. There's also some retro emulators and stuff, but we can't discuss that sorta thing here. ;D
Technically you can. Just don't give links to ROMs and BIOS (for those emulators that need them).

Oh, awesome. In that case, there's some nicely working emulators for NES, SNES, N64, GBC/A, etc. I haven't gotten much into them, and I know probably aren't compatible with iOS 5.1 yet, but I've got the GBA emulator to work.
the first emulator i got was the one by big boss but it took up the whole damn screen and wasn't really able to see anything. the second one was better but when i played the same rom it's sounds were choppy.

If you bought the iPhone after around November in 2009, very likely you have the new bootrom (and can't do this jailbreak, sadly).

But there is another way to tell (I hope you are using Windows for this!).

First put your phone in DFU mode. Then right-click My Computer and go to Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager. There click the + symbol to open the submenus tree items for "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller". Then click the Details tab and and look for something called "Device Instance Path" (or anything similar to that).

The value field there has something that reads like this: [IBOOT-XXX.X]. If it says [IBOOT-359.3], you have the wold bootrom. If you have anything higher than it, it's the new bootrom.

It's 359.3.2 - so does that mean I can Untethered Jailbreak it ?

Also is there any negatives to Jailbreaking (other then voiding warranty) ?

I jailbroke my Ipod Touch 1G about a year ago and it seems laggy and gets a weird line across the apple logo when it boots...

Sorry man, no Untethered Jailbreak for you for now. Let's hope the new Jailbreak comes out soon.

I never experienced any problems with Jailbreaking. But it makes sense you would have those problems with old devices. Specially the first iPod Touch, since there wasn't even an App Store when it was released.

Damn, no untethered jailbreak for 5.1 3G or 3GS

quote Pod2g Blog
"Will it be compatible with my <any random iOS device> ?

It will be compatible with any device running iOS 5.1.1 except iPod 3G, iPhone 3Gs and ATV3 (right now, may change in a near future, nobody knows)."

Quick question. How do I remove my jailbreak on 5.1? The computer that I have iTunes on, including redsn0w, everything for my iPhone basically, is broken. And until I get it fixed, I don't want to risk having to restart my phone and then reboot with redsn0w, since the computer is broken, and I can't do that.

If I just restart my phone, will it remove the jailbreak and boot manually since it's untethered? Or will it brick my phone?

Aqua No, I don't believe so. When I had my Android, there were a ton of supposed "battery-saver" apps and "kill/terminate" apps that were built to kill apps that were idle after a set amount of time, and in turn, improve your battery life. But all those apps did more harm than good to your phone, so I'm guessing it would be a similar case with the iPhone.

Only way to get rid of the jailbreak is to restore it.
If you restart the phone (as un, turning it off and back on) it will boot manually if it is untethered.

Lmao, duh. I was in a hurry, trying to do this an hour before I got to work. It finally dawned on me a little bit after I got to work. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to change my slider ?

I've tried various sliders and the only one I can get to work is bullet bill. The ones I've downloaded dont work even if I change winterboard to Summerboard mode
