You're on Windows right? All I can really find is ways to do it from a Mac, like this.

Yeah, it is confusing. With the 3GS it only works if you have the old bootrom (which you should have if you bought it before October) and its already jailbroken.

As far as I know, the only way to jailbreak iOS4 is to jailbreak OS3 then upgrade to jailbroken iOS4.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but I used this method:

-You go to a website using the iPhone/iPod Touch Safari
-You can download Cydia straight from there. No hassle with the computer. Just done.

I'm not going to show the website, because I don't want to advertise

Note for anyone trying to do the method Superboop mentioned above, it's only available AFAIK with firmware 4.0 and 4.0.1.
The site you go to is www.jailbreakme.com , however like Superboop mentioned above, you go to it on your iDevice and just follow the directions.
Newer firmware must be jailbroke with the plethora of newer jailbreak tools which have just been released.

I think you should. I have my iPhone 4 jailbroken and I add some tweeks here and there that make my life a bit easier than what would be in the stock iOS.

SBSettings is a huge convenience. Same thing with Installous. Then there's biteSMS and of course Winterboard.

At the time I used limera1n.

Tutorial

Protip: When it tells you to hold down the Power and Home button, and then it tells you to release the Power Buttom, keep holing the Home button until it finishes. I didn't know I had to do that the first time, and so the jailbreak failed and I had to restore and do it all over again.

I used Spirit to jailbreak mine- that was sometime back. Once jailbroken the warrenty goes so make sure theres non left or its coming to an end. Also remember apple hates jailbroken ipods so when you take them it to get it fixed they say no- not alway though. Even if you system restor they go into the ipod to check out what been happning and its very noticable. Be carfule guys.

If my shit breaks I will just buy another one lol.

That damn iTunes shit keeps popping up and gets in the way so I can not see.

The hold the power button thing must have been fixed because I had to let go for it to finish, but that was for windows.

What's the best place to jail break my iPod touch 3rd generation? It also has the latest iOS so that jailbreak.me doesn't work...
