dunno bout characters but to get the chaos emeralds did you notice the gates on the tracks that have numbers on them?Get that number of rings and go t hrough it.It may have a chaos emerald and a shortcut.If no chaos emerald its just a shortcut.

on the topic of sonic r. I have to say this is the WORST game in the whole colection. its even worse than sonic drift, which is terribel. But those are the only games i dont like. Just had to get that off of my chest.
