If you looking for english, tony mcmahon and leighton baines are good young left backs.
if any nationality there are hundreds but a few choice players-

Leandro Gioda and Nik Besagno. they form a great CB partnership after a few seasons on this game.
as for english i cant remember far enough back haha.
try looking at Rafael Sobis his name is ringing bells for some reason. he maight have been good on this version already.

Baines is by far the best young English, I have played through to even Walcott retires (he isn't all that good out of the championship tho)! England's fav's become Taylor and Dawson at CB. Huddlestone in midfield and Downing can play well on the wing, I think he varies from game to game though.
Anyway, agree with BoganKing, there is nothing better than a solid CB pair and Basagno and Gioda are great. Gioda is also an absolute bargain for any team lucky enough to sign him! I also like Barzagli and Broadfoot as their stats compliment each other.
Thomas Sivok, Mascherano, Cavenaghi, Tevez, Bojinov, Jaoquin, Lucas Podolski, Lahm, Dede, Marek Jankaluvski (amazing), L Mokeona. These should all be good for nearly all teams

Probably nothing new here but raid the Swedish league teams.
Not being the wily veteran as some may be I am not sure if these guys are for real or if they are randomly generated.
Andreas Dahl, Rawez Lawan are 2 who are good enough to hold a place in most teams - As Chelsea I have them as good squad players.
A good ploy is you can pick them up cheap if you are a Premiership club and sell them on making a cool million as well.

up front with a predatory striker like torres drogba owen etc
