It's the opposite for me; I haven't been paying any attention to the East.

Sad news: Derek Boogaard was found dead at his home today. He was only 28. No official statement from the Rangers or the Boogaard family, but it's a sad day in the world of hockey. RIP.

No idea who he is, but sad none the less. Shame that so many people die at that young of an age. Really puts the feeling of being mortal into one's mind.

He spent most of his career with the Wild. Wasn't a prolific goalscorer at all; I think he netted one against the Caps this season, which was his first since his rookie season in 05-06.

I can't say I ever heard of him. Mind you, I only kept up with Montreal and Atlanta for most of the past 3 years and only branched out now.

At least he got a goal this season. Bless his 6'7 soul.

So the Bolts win Game One 5-2. Fluke or a sign of things to come?

One word: Fluke.

The Bruins did not play as well as they are capable of playing. There are multiple explanations for this: the long layoff and not staying motivated during the long layoff, which-with tonight as the indicator-Tampa Bay did a better job of doing.

The writing's on the wall on that front: the Bruins gave up two unassisted goals and failed to score on the Power Play (again). Absolutely unacceptable; this definitely changed the complexion of Game 1. Not that I'm definitely saying what the outcome would have been, but the Bruins need to eliminate the stupid mistakes from Game 1 and not repeat them in Game 2.

Could it have been the lack of Patrice Bergeron? Possibly, the team isn't used to playing without him in the lineup. Which is too bad because I want to see Bergeron have another fight with Randy Jones for that severe concussion that he gave to Bergeron back when his punk-ass was in Philly (still remember that).

But bad blood aside Bergeron does so much for the team that it is going to take more than one person stepping up to fill that void: the entire team is going to have to step up.

The good news is this: Bergeron is skating and practicing with the team, so I won't rule him out of this series. Whether he will be available for Game 2 or not remains to be seen; with this game being played on Tuesday night the only thing to do is wait-and-see.

Basically the Bruins played like a bunch of fags out there.

That's one way of putting it. Gotta give props to that goal that was scored by Tyler Seguin--those moves were absolutely sick to beat three defenders like that. It made Top Plays on Sportscenter, leaving me in awe at how easy he made that look (but I doubt that it is that easy).

Kevin is a jinx. All his teams have gone under.
When Vancouver plays in the finals, please root for TB.

Hey!!!!

Nashville won a series its not my fault they lost to the President Trophy Winning #1 seed in the next round.

Plus it has only been one game for Boston so far.

He only beat one defenseman...

If you think that the Lightning win was a fluke then you obviously haven't paid any attention to ice hockey this season. Or even just the playoffs.

That and the fact that whatever team Kevin seems to root for inevitably loses.

I will admit that the Bruins aren't up to their full capability right now with Bergeron out right now. However the Lightning are still a force to be reckoned with regardless. They've been passing the puck around the net like no other lately and it's earned them more than a fair share of goals.

If Vancouver wins the Cup I am going to be so mad.

At least the Devils won the Draft Lottery. We were the best at being bad.
