There are a few characteristics in this game that remind me of Clock Tower 3. There's a panic mode, the characters are British, some of the sound effects are the same, and a few of the items, particularly lavender, are similar. Fiona somewhat reminds me of Alyssa too.

Agreed. I liked Haunting Ground better than CT3 though. The characters were way better then CT3's characters. (I still love Chopper to pieces though.) And Alyssa started panic to fast. And CT3's stalkers were always after you. I do think Alyssa was much braver than Fiona though.

Obviously.
BTW: Hi.

I think I liked CT3 a bit more. I don't like the fact that in HG, if you don't use a walkthrough, you never know what to do. You just have to go room to room trying to check everything expecting something to happen. THAT JUST SUCKS.

Hi.

I figured out alot without a walkthrough for HG. Some stuff took a while to figure out though. HG has alot more goodies for you when you beat it too.

As for me, I have quite a bit of trouble without a walkthrough. Ikary's right. You go from room to room expecting something to happen. The hardest part in that is the fact that Belli Castle is so big. As you progress through the game, you have to backtrack a lot and you have more and more places to go and things to investigate. The characters and story make it all worth the trouble though. Also, I love the synthesis rooms. They're a lot of fun.

i have both games but hg is more appealing to me probably because it has more of a "reality" feeling than ct3. I mean you could find stalkers anywhere and use lavender to calm down and where in the world would you use holy water? i mean besides christening houses and baptisms....

I just started playing CT3 again, and I have to say, HG is way better. From Lord Bourough castle the game is impossible, the scissortwins are on you like all the time almost anyway, the map is terrible, the only weapon Alyssa has is some stupid water which stuns the stalkers for two seconds.
HG is more realistic, Fiona wonīt hide if the enemy is in the same room, but she stays hidden and dosenīt panic and jump out. That really bugs me in CT3. +The soundtrack is better.

But I have to say, I find CT3 scarier, esp in the beginning.

I hear people comment that CT3 has some of the best voice acting in the history of videogames, is that true?

Where did you hear that?

xDDD; I don't think so at all. The voices are good, I think, but they get really irritating. Especially the Scissortwins' and Chopper's (even though I love Chopper) voice.

Might have been at Gamesfaq, not sure.
I was doing research, trying to find the next game to fill my survival horror needs....

I have NO idea whatsoever about what happens after the first level of HG,mainly because it scared me out of my pants after being killed by Debelitas and listening to him chop me in half after i'm dead.

Yh, I know, I know. Just turn of the sound. That's what I did.

I had CT3 but got annoyed and frustrated at the magic bow boss fights. They were kinda hard and didn't fit the rest of the game at all. I like HG much better, though it can be frustrating also because I can't seem to get away from whoever's after me at the time.

Well, Capcom DID make both games, so it makes sense as to why they're so similar.
Clock Tower most likely inspired Haunting Ground, which then probably inspired Rule Of Rose.

Clock Tower was great, because it kept you on your toes and forced you to think quickly when it came to finding your way out of any given level.
Haunting Ground is great too, and the puzzles are definitely more challenging.

Rule of Rose, however, is very disappointing so far.
The environments are tedious, the enemies are annoying, the children are disturbing (but not in a good way), and Brown, the dog, is almost completely useless.
I have, on occasion, described it as "a watered-down version of Haunting Ground". ><
