Just noticed that guests cannot post threads/messages in the forum. How long has this been in effect?

Not too long. I guarantee that it was probably set in place to slow down Deleezo or whatever, because he was posting on a guest account before. Not positive, but I am pretty sure that's why.

It's been in effect for a little under 24 hours now. It'll go back to normal in a few days, hopefully.

In these type of threads, we are generally supposed to redirect people to either the off-topic GD, or the Introduction Thread. Should we be doing that, as some are stating it as "memberation"? My thoughts on this, are that if it was wrong, we would have gotten punished for it. So, is it truly a wrong deed, or doing what we should be doing?

... Some posts there needed some reporting. Thanks for telling us about it.
Those threads are not allowed, we just saw (in the one OS linked us) how much spam they can bring. People who return can announce it in the Off Topic Discussion, or on the On Topic one without driting too much the topic. People who are new should post in the Introductions Thread.
There are many differences in memberating and in redirecting. What you did in the second post there was not memberating, but you weren't redirecting properly either

http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/22333/t1146738-clan-zxz-thread/Ecstasy owns his own clan (VnV) and intends to join one. One question I have, is how does the "you can only be in 1 clan if you lead one (your own)" rule really help? I understand that it helps to make it so people aren't making tons of clans, but maybe it should possibly be changed to "you can lead your own clan, and be in another". Most people on here are members of other clans anyways, as they have their own website.
Sei: Avalith will be able to answer you that question

Actually Sei, I think it's fine; nothing's getting out of hand and he hasn't been around the forum for a while. It's natural for people to ask questions and say welcome back. I'd much rather see it done in this thread now than hijack a future thread.
Guys, just try to keep on topic please. Thanks.

So, will these types of threads be accepted from now on? If so, will goodbye threads, too? Also, in a way, doesn't this semi-discourage use of the introductions thread?
This message was edited by Oceanic Sun on Apr 30 2008.Avalith Edit: As I mentioned in my post below, that's a special allowance. Generally they won't be allowed, but since he'd been gone for a while I decided to bend the rules a bit. A one-time occurrence doesn't necessarily mean there's a change in policy.

I'll be taking a look at that tomorrow afternoon and I might even raise the restriction from two clans to three or four.

It's not a wrong deed. I saw the thread a few days ago when it was first posted and I chose to let it stay around a while because I know the guy had stopped coming here a while back and some people were probably wanting to ask questions about where he'd been. There's really not much in the way of a community if we're always riding you guys about taking things to the proper channels as it doesn't give you guys much freedom. This is the community's forum; I'm just here to help facilitate and encourage growth while being a part of the community myself. There's nothing wrong with letting people veer off topic from time to time or letting a thread that should belong somewhere else stay around on an occasion like this, so why make you guys conform if things are still under control?
While I'd prefer you guys take things to PMs or the off-topic GD, I'm not going to force you to every time; just use your common sense and don't take it as a carte blanche to go off and derail every thread in the forum.

This makes a lot more sense now. Sometimes I would wonder why some threads weren't closed, while others were. This really clears my confusion, Avalith.
Two if you're leading a clan, and three if you aren't sounds like the ideal choice, Avalith.

Lol Avalith, I wonder who actually knows what carte blanche means.
For those that don't know:
Carte Blanche-Latin-Blank page/New start.
Avalith Edit: Actually, it means full discretionary power in the context in which I used it.
