I managed to find a place with the R4 and the M3 perfect pact in stock.

Now I'm wondering... Which one should I buy? The M3 has the GBA ram thingy an a rumble pack included. THe R4 has a pack that comes with a EZ-Flash 3. Which pack would be better to purchase, and what would my options be with both packs, or are they basically the same thing with the same capabilities?

The R4ds and the M3dssimply are basically exactly the same product, just with a different name. Either choice would be fine. I have an R4 and have had no problems. still works great.

I thought I'd help fill in the guide a bit. This is for the hombrew kits section.

Introduction to Flash Carts
R4DS
M3 Real
M3 Simply
DSTT

The three mainstream homebrew devices are the R4, the M3, and the DSTT. These three are mainly the same with small differences in appearance and software. All three currently use micro-sd cards for memory.

R4DS M3 Simply M3 Real DS Top Toy(DSTT)

Done for now, I guess.

Thanks special. I'll add those to the first post.

Believe it or not, today I just got a little card that said I had something waiting at the post office. So, guess what it was? My DSTT. And only four months too late!

I'll work on filling out the guide more when I get back from Spring Break.

So you finally got it? Sweet. Have you played around with it at all?

No. I actually just picked it up from the post office a few minutes ago. The packaging completely blows, but I got everything I asked for. I'm going to mess around like you said, but I won't have anything ready to put up until after I get back from vacation.

If I was to get this, would I need anything else to run homebrew, or is that pretty much a full kit?

You also need a MicroSD card to hold all of the downloaded data. I thought that it might be included in the package, but from what I can tell it is not. You might want to consider getting the DS Top Toy, which does the same thing and is about 10 bucks cheaper. Plus, from what people say it's much easier to use (I have the DSTT and it is very easy to set up, but I can't talk about the R4).

There was a video I saw recently explaining how to turn the DS into a cell phone using homebrew, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I don't know about any that are close to cell phones in their functionality, but there are a few that use VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), which is the closest thing you'll get over the internet. I don't think I should link to any of the websites because they talk about ROMS, so here's the blurb in the Wiki article:

How is the Wifi play with the DSTT or the R4, can anyone vouch for it?

I know friendcodes are DS specific, so thats not a big deal, but is it easily connectable?

Also- is the software really necessary, or can I just drag and drop to the card?

I've never actually used the Wifi. But on R4 you don't need any software for .nds files. You just drag and drop.

I still haven't received my R4, I ordered it well over a week ago.

Anyone know about how long it takes to get it?
(I ordered it from here)

It literally took me three months to get mine, but I ordered from a different site. You should get yours within a month though, I'd imagine.
