Subject: getting TEW 2004 going again...

Well I got my registration code from the good folks at e-license, after my hard disk crashed and I lost my installation of TEW 04.
But I can't get the game running again. I found a demo download at gamershell, but I haven't been able to get it to work, even with my code. I kept getting an overflow error when I tried to create a new game. Looked at things in the editor and it doesn't seem to be able to read my workers.dat file, it comes up garbled.
Found a scenario for download and installed that, and it still comes up garbled.
Was there another file you were supposed to install with the demo after you registered? .400 Software Studios isn't much help with this anymore
Does anyone know how to get this beast going again? I've tried the demo for '05 but that interface is a real turn-off.
