Subject: Monopoly question

Im a new player and the rules arent clear to me on this:
if i owe another player 1000, lets say i have no houses or hotels and my remaining properties are mortgaged BUT, they total 1000 (purchase price). i can pay the debt yes?
and i can keep my doller bill lol.. and stay in the game?

If you have all properties morgaged and you dont have the money to pay then you lose the game. You cant just pay the debt on you morgages and or pay the equivilent of the amount of your property.
