Some people will believe anything. No one knows when the World will end. But after the 21st, I can sure bet people will make up a new "End of the World" date.

Sure. There's April Fools Day, Friday the 13th, anything superstitious could happen in our lives. Hopefully it's the superstition that's going down on the 21st!

1- It ends 12-21-12. Not after Christmas.
2- It's been proven the calendar theory is false. Check into it like I have.

I'm excited to hear what the new apocalypse theory will be. Remember Y2K? Computers going haywire and everything going crazy?

Unless you live in the UK then it's 21/12/12. Mind you, even then 21st isn't after Christmas but then some Christians celebrate Christmas on different days.

Computers did go haywire remember? They all got the dates mixed up.

harbin: So if we were to go off European format, since the Spanish were the ones who found the Mayans before anyone else, then the end of the world would be tomorrow?

On an exam day no less. Perfect timing. xD

No because if you're still using that format, then the 21st would be the 21st month of the year

To put it simply, dates were stored with two digits. instead of 1985, you had 85.

Of course, once 2000 rolls around we don't have enough digits anymore to accurately show the date, as a computer would interpret 00 as 1900. This caused some problems in things that were very time sensitive.

But mostly work was done to prevent this, only a few small problems.

Of course, now we have to wait for the 2038 problem

Oh, right. I know about all of that, I just didn't think there was actually problems.

What's the 2038 problem? Haven't heard of that, either.

Everyone's already abandoned the 21st and have jumped to the world blackout, so that really shows the amount of faith people put into when they think they're gling to die.

Apparently computers running out of binary digits to compute the date, would just cause it to reset to 01/01/1900.

So many years though, chances are patches and software companies will have addressed such a problem and since it doesn't affect 64bit PCs, I would really be surprised if it has any major impact unless your hardware is shit old.

EDIT: Searched World Blackout.. thought it was bollocks from the start. Doesn't mean you can't go around scaremongering and playing pranks though

People scared that a planet will collide or that there will be three days of blackouts, yet they forget that there is a giant blackout at the centre of the galaxy.

Sounds relatively harmless. Something like that should be easy to patch up.
