-------------------------------------------
I'm hoping to treat myself to a new pc for my birthday and decided I'd like to piece together my first gaming pc. Too bad I know nothing about it, except I'm looking to spend at most $1,400 for everything I need. I'll be going to the www.microcenter.com Cambridge/Boston MA store. If anyone is bored and willing to help i'd be quite grateful

Not a good idea to get a Caviar Green drive as a main boot drive. They're simply not fast enough.

Pick up either a Blue drive or an SSD instead.

Also, the PSU, I'd recommend something like a Corsair, Seasonic, or XFX.

What will you use it for? If gaming, then here:

Z77 Sabertooth motherboard

Intel Core i7 3770 Processor

I assume you won't be overclocking, but if you are go for the 3770k.

Ripjaws 1600MHz 16GB Quad Channel RAM

Sapphire 3GB HD 7970 Vapor-X Cooling

Coolermaster HAF X XL Case

1TB Black Caviar 7200RPM HDD

OCZ Vertex 120GB SSD

800W Corsair PSU

I'm not an expert with this stuff, but I'm not bad either.

Comes to £1115.10
I don't know if it will be much more for the parts in the US.
