Subject: Can't find Yoshi's Egg!

I can't find Yoshi's eggs, neither eggs: red, blue, yellow, light blue I can't find them! I am in level 4-1 and have gone through the walkthrough (yes I cheated) for these eggs but when I cross to the mirror world there's only mushrooms and coins. Please help it's getting frustrating
! Do we need to win the whole game before finding the eggs or we can find them along the way? By the way, I got this game used could it be because someone already played it all? If so, is there a master reset?Thanks
