You don't need to see any Rival events, in fact, avoid them. If you see all rival events, seven days after the last one, they will get married.

i got ann to red heart (the last heart) and i tried to give her the blue feather but she just laughed and said.. good joke! wat have i done wrong was i supposed to give her more things?? why wont she take it??

You can't see a single heart event when you are on red. Sorry >.< !! You can see any lower heart events of lower heart levels until you reach orange I think, if not the red.
