I'm sure this has been brought up before somewhere but this is all I could find from searching in the directory, and that is just talking about Neo mobile, not an actual app available for download. A Neo app would make it so much easier to scan through your favorite forums, check up on your PM's, and would definitely increase activity. I'm sure there is a reason why there isn't one yet, but I think that whatever is keeping it from happening should be worked on whenever possible.

BAM!

Saga, you still planning on doing this?

Aw, man. I would absolutely LOVE a Neoseeker app! Would definitely like push notifications for PMs and notifications.
Please make this!

It'd certainly be nice but would also require a very large time investment. I'm not even sure if NeoAPI provides all the functionality you can get on the site, yet.

I would be more interested in an app that just checked PM's and notifications and would notify your phone whenever you had new ones. No need to recreate the entire Neoseeker mobile experience as an app.

This is the main purpose I would use it for as well.

An app for just Notifications, PM alerts, and maybe friends online would be a nice start, and more achievable than a full blown app. Actually an app that has several "dashboards", eg replicating some of the community changes, news headlines, top threads, friend updates, etc would be nice. The hard part would be when the app has to do too much "stuff".

Like you said, it would be a nice start. People will always want more stuff, but there is always time for that stuff to be implemented in the future too.

Convince ar_cat to return markup instead of HTML when using the PM and such APIs and I may tackle this project again.

Saga, What's wrong with HTML? if you just got back markup, wouldn't that mean you'd have to write your own parser?

We have this though: http://api.neoseeker.com/docs/threadmessages/untranslate/

My thoughts, as someone who's considered a project like this before:

With HTML, you have to either (a) display it verbatim inside a web browser control, or (b) parse it. The former is pretty inflexible (for example, you have little control over how videos should be handled), and likely less user friendly (blocks of rendered HTML will look out of place in a native app without lots of restyling). So, you have to parse it if you want flexibility. And HTML is a pain in the a$$ to parse, at least compared to something simple like Neo's markup.

The untranslate connection on the threadmessages call will handle what you need then. That means Saga will start working on the app again?

Saga left us to be a hot-shot co-owner of some marketing website.

Is anybody working on this? On anything Android related.

I've been piecing together suggestions, but there's a real lack of organization, and that's even turning me off. It might be easier to get a few dedicated heads on board if somebody creates a quick outline of the project. I take it there are some real script savvy cookies on here, but I'd also be willing to bet there are plenty of others who could, and would, contribute, or even test in smaller, though still useful, ways. Interface stuff even.
