-------------------------------------------
Now, if mark up is already usable within the Biography/Interests section of profile editing, this thread is useless, but I've tried using Mark up before and it doesn't appear to work.

Now, this is nothing major by any means but it would be helpful in that:

1. Separating sections of your Biography
Say you've got a section for your favorite quotations, a section for your "top 5's", a section for your milestones here on the site. Using the "hr" divide would come in handy, as well as the ability to change the size of the font as well as make it Bold would be really helpful, and more appealing to read.

2. Highlight the following section
Similar to the other one, I've always wanted the ability to Bold the title of the catagory that I'm about to write baout in my Bio. I think the ability to use mark up with really help with that.

3. Colors?
Self explanatory, people could give their Biographies a bit of flair and personal taste.

Anyways, this is just an idea. A bit of a concession, and I'm sure some will point it out, is that people could use their NeoHome for all of that sort of stuff, and I understand that, and agree to an extent, but I still think allowing mark up in Biographies/Interests would be a beneficial thing to implement.

EDIT: I understand CSS coding is possible in editing Bio/Interests, but I still feel my request remains relevent. It would be miles easier just to use traditional Neo mark up.

Here's a few things you can do with your bio you may be unaware of. Sections are also possible, although I can't remember off-hand how. I'm pretty sure DreamCrafter has different sections in his bio and hopefully he can come in and share the CSS for it.

edit: YOUR STUPID EDIT >:(

edit2: now that you edited your post, Neohomes still seems a better choice imo lol

Why not use neohomes? Those were fun. Either way, its possible to use markups in your biography/interest.
Hope those two links help.

Support.

I don't know why we're limited to CSS, to be honest. It's too time consuming to learn.

I don't think it's so time-consuming.. more than us simply bein' used to Neo's mark-up, learning another mark-up language shouldn't be too much, I'd assume.

I mean I dunno, a few years ago when neohomes were raging, profiles were considered sort of on the same level, with its uniform look instead. So.. yeah.

I don't fully disown this suggestion; it would be convenient and on that end I support, just that it would also be bracing for possible future considerations when it comes to profile layouts. With varying results. I'm not too fully sure.

I think this would actually be pretty cool. I've always wondered why it hasn't been done before. It gives people a way to customize their profiles without having to learn something they may be unfamiliar or uncomfortable with.

I support this. I wonder why nothing like that has been implemented yet. There's been talk about more customization profiles and this would be a step towards that.

Bump. Has this been looked at by an Admin yet or anything? It's mostly approved.

This would be pretty useful to be fair. Might as well have things syncronised!

Huge Support. If we've got our own Markup on the site, why are we not using it on certain things?

I think the moment we implement this all biographies that already use CSS and the small amount of markup we do allow will all break.

The current status where HTML works in biographies is one of those weird situations where you actually have more flexibility than the markup in the forums. Switching it the other way will limit certain things (such as background images) while making it easier for those who are used to forum markup to do simple pages.

Pro: Cons: Would be interested to hear from Enhance and others who have extensive experience editing their profile pages.

Redemption

I'm not technologically inclined by any means, so my refutation may not hold up at all.

Although your list of cons makes sense the first one, I believe (again, here is where I'm simply stabbing in the dark) that we could keep CSS coding while implementing regular forum mark-up for those (like me) who want a simple biography that still has a bit of flair to it.

Thanks.

Markup would make editing your profile easier for most users but anyone that wants to be able to use markup isn't seeing the big picture. Markup would limit customization not expand it. The CSS that is allowed in profiles allows you to go way above and beyond anything you could do with markup.

I haven't used CSS in my profile since I got rid of all the old information that was in it but I should go and whip something up real quick as an example of what people can do with CSS.

For those of people that don't know CSS a simple solution could be to create a thread in the HTML/CSS & NeoHome Help Forum with the markup you want converted to HTML. For anyone with a little knowledge of CSS and HTML it would take little to no time to convert markup for someone.
