Ask any questions you have about moderating and the moderator status on Neoseeker. The previous Session of Q&A to this was Session 2 and you can read it [here].

Disclaimer : Some questions may not be answered if they are blatant attempts to learn confidential information or methods to exploit the system.

What is pseudo-status

Pseudo status is where you can still see and post in the moderator forum without being a moderator. It's something that is reserved for ex-moderators that'd still like to be part of the discussion after they're done moderating, and they still have to be approved by the admins to be given the status.

On a scale from 1-10 just how computer literate would you have to be to be a good mod.

You don't have to be a computer technician to make a good moderator. You just need to know the basic riff-raff of how things work on neoseeker. (i.e. Functions etc...)

It's more about what you know of Neoseeker than it is of computers in general. I'm computer literate, but I'm not a whiz like some of the people on here. So long as you know how to use all of the basic markup tags (Bold, Italic, Underline, Quotes, Links, Image links, Indenting, Allignment and Size) and have a general awareness of the site you should be qualified. (In this area; you obviously need to meet all other requirements as well).

I myself have a question. Does an existing moderator have to actually wait for someone to request to be a Co-Mod, or can they issue the offer themselves. In other words, could I offer a co-mod position to a member who wanted it, and have him promoted. (Assuming he meets all criteria, which he would if I recommended him). Or is me putting the suggestion in his head considered to be some form of coersion?

Ok here is my question.

I put in a request to be mod. Unfortunately I have Aohell and everytime i'm on Neo something goes wrong and it messes up. Well I sent the pm and while it registered the link to the stats it didn't register the link to the actual forum itself. So who do I talk to or am I just screwed until I can apply again.

I'd PM Kuduros and see if you can't get away with it.

If you say to him/her "Do you want to be my co-mod?", and point him/her to the MR thread with your blessing, it's probably better than any user coming up to you and saying "can i be your co-mod", because you'll have picked the person, so you'll probably know them a lot better, and you aren't going to pick an idiot as a co-mod, are you?

Hi Johnny

Members can apply to moderate your forum right now at the moment and if they fill out the form correctly, nothing will stop their application going into Pending. Unfortunately, because they did not make you aware of it as Forum Moderator, you obviously will not have sent a NeoPM to us, naming that person as a Supported Applicant for Co-Moderator, so when their application goes into Pending, it will not be tagged by us as a SUPPORTED APPLICANT and they will be denied when reviewed.

The correct procedure for obtaining a Co-Moderator is to discuss with your selected Member, about becoming a Co-Moderator. At the end of the day, you are selecting a Co-Worker so it is entirely up to you how you do it. If you want to approach someone and ask them to apply, by all means do so.

Determine when they intend to apply to us here. At the same time, you must send us a Supported Applicant for Co-Moderator NeoPM, naming that applicant as having your blessing in applying. This will tag their application. Be aware, a tagged application is not a Green Card through the application process, many have and will continue to be denied for other reasons, so noone should be under the impression that having a current Forum Moderator's permission is an automatic promotion to Moderator.

I hope this answers your query, Johnny.

Name is username. You link to both forum stats and the forums main page.

What if a forum is brand new do you have to wait for the forum to be to the required stats to even have a chance at being mod there?

Yes, a moderator won't be appointed to a forum unless it has the required stats, even if the forum is new.

Well it is possible for the forum to require a moderator, if the PPD, gets really high. Such as the USA Forum, which got 2 moderators because the PPD was at 190 when the number of pages was 3.
