How do you play?
Do you go for conquest or is it all about the space race?
Normally I work towards both, I normally ally with the civilization doing second best in the world (I'm first

) and together we conquer and defend, until I start building the ship! If my ally starts first, I'll pretty much destroy them!

My strategy is always the same, no matter which version of the game that I have. I always want to be the most powerful, and I wont let my neighbours be even a tiny bit powerful. I want them to feel Awe when they look at me, and think 100 times before attacking....
...as for the type of victory, I choose the normal year 2050 AD Victory. The reason is I usually manage to build everything by the year 1600 AD, so that leaves me with far too many turns where I can expand my empire.
What I always tend to do is build the strongest attacking unit, and as soon as I befriend a civilisation (and exchange knowledge) I attack them. If I'm successful in taking a city (or two) I try to befriend them again. They at times do ignore me, but at that point, I just go about conquering more of their cities till they start to talk. When they do finally talk, I ask for them ALL technology that they have (and I don't), and I ask for one of their cities. If they agree, all the better for me, otherwise I accept, and just take it using my military.
I also have a tendency to give free tech to allies, in the hopes that they will learn new technology that they can then pass to me once I conquer them
Another thing I usually do is before I attack, I just send a lot of my unit's around their borders, and as I'm not IN their borders, they never do a thing. This means I can pretty much defeat their defences one by one,and with it their cities.

Do you attack you neighbors at the beginning to keep them less powerful?
What's is the 2050 AD Victory? Is there a limit to how many years the game will go?
Can you customize what you ask for from the other leaders? Like you said you ask for other cities, how do you do that?
I've won all four ways on both Cheftain and Warlord levels and now I am going through my first campaign as "King" and about halfway through the Egyptians (Cleo) have jumped out to a lead right from the beginning with Tech and Econimic. I am winning in culture and close behind in Tech. But I am working on a better beginning strategy.

Well this discussion started before the game was released. In the actual game, the game will end at 2100 AD which for me has only happened once when I didn't pay enough attention to how I was playing the game. Now that I have however, I think I could have played that game again and won it by like 1000 AD... (which is like 500 turns difference).
As for customising what you ask for... that's only with the PC version, in CivRev, you usually have to give the enemy AI something of they'll attack you. Rarely will they submit to you. The only way to get a city is to conquer it or to flip it... the latter being the preferred method
