does any one have hints on how to beat the gatekeeper of hell (the boss at the end of the mafu island level) in goemon's great adventure?

use the baton pass when you he makes 3 blue fire balls come out...& use repeated punch when he does sthe other speacial....

Just watch his shadow very carefully and make sure you have lots of lives when you go in.

I know this thread hasn't been answered in months, and the person asking may have already beat it, but for anyone that doesn't want to spend money on a game shark, here's the strategy-
GATEKEEPER OF HELL-
First, you need to know his basic attacks. His first attack is where he moves to where you're standing, and strikes down with his club. Wait for him to come to where you're at, strike him once, and quickly run out of his club's reach. Do this five times or so and he will fall over and his spirit will appear. Each time the spirit appears, you will get to strike the spirit three times before it comes back to life. His second attack is where he rolls in a zig-zag path across the scenery. Simply run past him when he is furthest in the foreground or background and continue until he stops and begins using his club again. Remember that you can only deplete his life meter when you attack his spirit. Continue and repeat this until the life meter is empty.
