Hi i started playing Morrowind again about a week ago. But when i did i noticed to my great disapointment that i did'nt enjoy it eaven close as much as i did the firts time.
I know the game will never be as exiting as the first time.
But i had to turn of the Xbox after a couple of hours because i got bored.
OF MORROWIND!! Thats sick:(.
One of the biggest reason if think was that i had already played all the fighter, thiefguild, morag thong and most of the redoran quests. The fighter G quests i have played many times with different test chars. So when i begun playing again with a Imperial fighter character it was like been there done that with everything i did. It woud be the same with a thief i think cuz i've done the stealt oriented quests. So then i thought about making a mage type character. But the basic mage races is Breton and Highelves and i don't like either of those races. So today i came up with the idea of making a Dunmer into a Mage. I think the Dunmer is one of the coolest races of the game but they dont seem to bee making good mages except for the Destruction skill starting bonus. So what i wonder is if it's possible to make a Dunmer into a skilled Mage typed character.I was thinking about using magic and maby a sword if it gets nessisary. And if i add Illusion it woud be kind of a stealth char to. Like making myself invisible and sneak around my enemy and the fry them with a firespell from behind.
What do you think? Is it possible to make this kind of char and still be able to go around without getting killed all the time?
Please i need help getting started with this great game:|.

That depends on your choice of character. Magicka regenerates no matter what character/choices you make so a warrior character can use magic. However if you choose the atronach birthsign then this will give you stunted magicka which means the only way to regenerate your magicka is to use potions

The atronach birthsign gives the biggest magicka bonus. Mix this with the High Elf or Breton (Breton since they don't gain all the weaknesses to magicka unless you later on make enchantments or spells to counter this problem) then you will gain a much larger magicka pool.

So yes if you are a warrior naturally. The max magicka you will have is what your intelligence is (max is 100) unless you choose a magicka bonus birthsign. If you choose a mage naturally then they will have a bigger magicka pool (Breton with 60 intelligence + Atronach = 210 magicka to start with)

So overall when it comes to using more powerful spells, a non-magic character won't be able to use them.

As for what you are suggesting. Yes you will have enough magicka. It is common for a magic user to use their spells at the start then switch to melee or ranged attacks while their magicka regenerates (unless they have the atronach birthsign then they will have to restore it with potions within the fight or later) then switch back to magic if needed

Ok but if i do not play a character that only relies on magic. Maby put some points to strenght and speed. I know a pure mage woud be best of with destruction but if i play like 50-50 magic and nonmagic will my character have enough magica to rely on destruction magic in fights. Or will the magica run out so that i will have to cary loads of expensive potions?

all depends on the level.

The reason you didn't get protection from light armour is due to a low light armour skill and crappy armour Armour Rating grows as your armour skills grow. So netch leather would give better protection with a light armour skill of 70 than Netch leather with a light armour skill of 30. Along with this there are different type of light armours, Glass being the best you can get and with a light armour skill of 100 gives you 175 AR each piece

As for the type of attack, it is down to personal preference and what type of character you play. My thief assassin would choose a dagger over destruction anyday, mainly because he has level 98 in Short Blade and Long Blade and level 20 in Destruction.

Add in the stealth element and by the time I fried someone with 20 fireballs I could have slit their throat with one vital strike.

Then again if I had a level 90 destruction and a good fireball and my short blade was level 20. Then yes the destruction skill would prove better

Ok thanks for the replies. I once played a thief type char with light armor and i did'nt have much protection when fighting harder foes. Whoud it be easier to kill something with Destruction magic then with a dagger?

Morrowind Assassin

also if your good with light armor when you get to level 7 and sleep in a bed, you'll be attacked by an assassin. the light armor you take from him with you kill him is really good but until then if your a mage i'll would stick with a blunt weapon like a hammer or a staff and clothes like robe or robes with powers with them

Take a look at the Nightblade premade character class. Dunmer are well suited for this class, and Nightblades are basically magic-users with some good stealth skills. Check out the skills and use them as a starting point to create your own character.
