I've got an English FFXII, but my sister has told me the Japanese FFXII is specially made to be played on PS2s in UK (and such) as well. To tell you the truth I'd much rather have the Japanese one, so I just want to comfirm if what my sister says it's true.

Sorry if this question was already brought up. I don't have much time to look through this forum at the moment.

Is it or me doesn't the chapters thing bring back memories of FFX-2. Am I the only one who can see people spawning a hatred towards RW without playing it simply because its a sequel and how (according to most FF fans) they messed up FFX-2.
Personally though I'm not getting it anyway. Which may be to do with my broken DS :/.
As for the Japanese version. If I remember correctly. To get to Omega MK XII you need to beat Yiazmat. Whereas on the European and US version you just need to accept the hunt.

Well at least it's good to know that we won't have the opportunity to spam Quickenings to defeat bosses.

I try not to do it myself, but I had to on one or two of them.

I'm glad to see Quickening's return in Revenant Wings =D

Quickenings

Quickenings also return. Original characters will be keeping their original Quickenings, whilst new characters will have all new animations. Unlike Final Fantasy XII, Quickenings are not obtained through conventional means, but through special conditions.

Hm.. here's some information on it...

The day before the U.S. release of Final Fantasy XII, an interview with director and scenario writer Motomu Toriyama and co-producer Eisuke Yokoyama revealed new details for its DS sequel: Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. Dengeki DS Style, a new Japanese gaming magazine focusing on the DS and Wii performed the interview and received new hints on both the game's storyline and combat system.

Like Final Fantasy X and its sequel Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings takes place right after its PlayStation 2 predecessor. Toriyama said that a specific time period has not been set. Revenant Wings is set on the floating continent of Puruvama and on the ground below, where Vaan, the protoganist from Final Fantasy XII, is in search of treasure.

In regards to Ivalice, the world of Final Fantasy XII, Yokoyama said: "It would be impossible to put in all of Ivalice, but you'll be able to go to the main locations." While exploring Ivalice a second time is cut short, players that finished Final Fantasy XII will be able to see what the characters from the PlayStation 2 game are up to. When asked about the characters that will join this installment, Yokoyama confirmed that Fran and Balthier will join as party members and expect there to be more.

Other returning features from Final Fantasy XII include the Gambit combat system. However, Yokoyama added that the battle system is relatively new. In order to prevent returning players from getting confused, there will be shared elements from the original. The combat system will also be simplified to accomodate newer players. Toriyama hinted at Wi-Fi compatibility for Revenant Wing's combat system, but added it will not be supported unless lag can be eliminated.

Due to the DS being a portable system, the story will consist of episodes so it can be played in short periods. Toriyama observed that players will be able to progress through the story speedily. Additionally, Revenant Wings will take advantage of the system's dual screens and allow for full stylus control.

Story-wise Revenant Wings is more of an after-math than anything. The gameplay between FFXII and Revenant Wings is extremely different though.

Heh, I don't think that will be happening, unfortunately.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is an entirely new game for the Nintendo DS. However it is unrelated to the plot of the game. It's like a spin-off, I guess you could say...

Not likely. I will have to live vicariously through someone else's game play experience. I was hoping that I would get the whole FFXII when I dropped the first $60. LOL

Now if they made it an expansion type disc where you could use your save data similar to Dynasty Warriors and it was only $30 I would reconsider.

Until my twin daughters get off of formula and diapers, I am dead broke and replaying every game in my library to keep me from getting the shakes. LOL

If you want more Final Fantasy XII, then perhaps Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is the game for you?

That is what I mean....Square Enix thinks this is enough of a "new" feature to warrant a release. Sometimes it gets old having to buy so many games just to see what the whole title could have been. It reminds me of the cheesy flicks that purposely leave room for a sequel instead of just giving you the whole movie to begin with.

Business is business though. As long as there is a demand, there will always be a supply. I sure would like to see a new story in the upcoming release though.

Hopefully they expand on FFXII instead of just adding a few extras.

It's not a new game.

It's the same game, only with additional features to the Licence Board.

Nothing all together interesting, aside from that.
