"The Godfather" is a Free-Roam game released March 21st 2006 developed by Electronic Arts for the consoles : PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, PC, PSP, Wii, PlayStation 3, but no matter what console you play this game on, its still shit.

The Godfather part 1 and part 2 are arguably the best movies ever made but there is no doubt that this is the shitest game ever made.
The game starts off with you having to choose what the main character looks like with the brand new "MobFace" program, which apparently is a big deal although the idea of being able to customize your characters face is as fresh as an 85 year old woman's vagina.

Because this is a free roam and the missions can be done in no particular order Im not going to review them but just incase you don't know, they all suck.

The originality and well thought out structure of this game is so intense you get to upgrade your guns, including making your magnum into a realistic 'Magnum lvl. 3'. It is so accurate you could probably hit a 3 year old's clitoris from 200 yards away.

To beat the game and progress you have to blow up compounds so that they become yours. You have to walk in by yourself and kill about 50 guys, then when everyone is dead you for some reason have to blow the compound up.
Nobody is left in the compound and it is as good as yours so it must be a good idea to blow the whole thing up before you can really claim it as your own.

On the last mission you get to kill all the mafia family bosses ALL BY YOURSELF by killing hundreds of the mafia families TOP body guards who are killed by ONE guy.
If one guy can kill an entire mafia family then why haven't they done this before with some other guy armed to the teeth with lvl 3 magnums and lvl 3 Tommy guns, this game is just ridiculous.

Then once you've made your way up the ranks to Don, all of a sudden Michael Corleone seemingly disappears from the game and lets you become the big boss of the huge mafia family. I don't remember this ever happening at any point in the movie, I remember Michael Corleone living until his was about 80 something and then dying from old age or after playing this game, I can't quite remember.

Conclusion

Another Grand Theft Auto rip off that fails harder than a Down Syndrome at a Law School.

The Storyline is as held together as diahrea, the graphics are as smooth as a dick with genital warts and the gameplay is as fast paced as Paris Hiltons lazy eye.

When I was finished playing this game I took it out of my Xbox 360, put it gently back in the case and decided that a game this shit needs to be put somewhere no one will ever be able to find, so I drove down to the street and put it in a Red Cross donation bin.

Then while still being unable to get over how ridiculously bad the game was I went and bought the "The Godfather" book and came on all 448 pages from start to finish.

The Godfather, an offer you can refuse.

Do you realize you are responding to a post that is almost 1 year and a half old? You think this argument is still going on now?

I totally agree with phil on this one. It is not the best game in the world, but i enjoyed it. I have to admit i have never seen the films or read the book, but after p0laying the game, i did go out and buy the boxed set and was impressed. I have to say though, what computer game would stick so closley to the films version. there would be no enjoyment in playing as you know exactly what happens and how to kill people. they have to allow for player decisions!!!!

I agree.

I have enjoyed the game, but it is not the best. Gavin_M could not put together a good case against the game and so resorted to shockingly vulgar terms to berate the game. The only thing I actually got from his unintelligible tirade was that the game was unrealistic. Imagine that; an unrealistic video game! Leave the reviews to the professionals, and hit a confessional. Someone should watch this guy, and don't allow him to be alone with small children. By the way, before you start an authorative post, make sure your grammar and syntax is correct. You sounded like a moron through the whole thing, Mr. Is'nt.

This game is deffinetly an offer you can't refuse. I love this game. I have 72 hours logged on my PS2 version and 39 hours logged on my Xbox 360 version.

This game is amazing and addictive in so many ways. Yes, it can get repetitive at times, but not enough to make the game one bit boring. I say for those who hate this game, just don't know what a good game is when the play it.
Most people will just say that because they are pissed at a certain part of the game that they cannot get past.

Personally I think it is a cool game. It is not a perfect game, has its flaws. But it takes me back to what I loved about the book and the movies (that is what I was looking for). I also like the fact that you can play a game that brings back the golden age of mafia in the 40's-50. It does have its moments where it does get frustrating. The most annoying part of the game is finding you way to a target (Which can be excruciating), then once you get there you fail (or die). Once you complete a task it can be very satisfying. If you are in to GTA style of games you may like The Godfather. I would recommend renting it first for anyone that has not tried it yet. The controls are different, so the learning curve may seem steep. Once you get past the control issues, then you may enjoy the game. It is a fairly solid well balanced game that should tie you over till GTA IV comes out.
