quote Plot Summary
Sakai Yuuji, a high school student who expected his normal life to last forever, is dead. When he was on his way home he witnessed a shocking view as the world suddenly froze: people were engulfed by blue flames and a monster resembling a large doll swallowed them. Just as the monster prepared to consume Yuuji, a sword-wielding girl in black attire with flaming red eyes and hair that burns like embers saved him from the monster. The girl called herself a "Flame Haze" who hunts the "Guze no Tomogara", creatures from another world. As Yuuji noticed a blue flame in his chest, she called him a "Torch", a temporary replacement, saying that the "real" Yuuji's existence had already ended. Unfazed, Yuuji befriended the strange girl, named her "Shana", and joined her fight against Tomogara and other Flame Hazes.
A friend of mine gave me volume 1 of this series as an early Birthday present today and it surprised me as I didn't know this series was licensed. A must-watch for fans of action and fantasy with high school aspects thrown in the mix. Aside from the superb animation and beautiful artwork, the soundtrack for this anime is amazing, especially the OP. Not to mention that the dub is pretty good.
Anyone else seen this?

I don't know. I guess I really like how the characters have developed from the start, where Shana was the cold hunter who didn't understand human emotion and Yuji was the oblivious human/torch completely inexperienced in battles. Not just those two mind - I liked the stories and events around characters like Margery, Khamsin, Pheles, even Wilhelmina.
That mixed with some really kickass battle sequences throughout the series. When the Flame Haze went to fight the latest enemy to treat Misaki as their playground there was a real sense of awe about it.
Now if anyone says Kanon is better than Shana (which I'm guessing is "everyone but me") I'm not going to argue it. I just liked Shana more (even then, we're talking minor differences).

Kanon, man I was waiting for that. Hahaha. My Kanon-vomiting-senses were tingling all over.
Insanity Prevails, okay, not gonna judge, but I'm curious-- what do you like so much about Shana?
But this season it was more the introduction of 100s of new vocab words and characters that left me completely bedazzled and perplexed.
Aha, I think I just got used to this and phasing out anything I didn't understand. Although Final throws loads of this around.
I'll admit I don't remember any of the titles used for new characters in this season other than Serpent of the Ritual.

Insanity Prevails, so for you it's Kanon then Shana, I'm guessing? Well, at least Shana is widely popular *outside* of Neoseeker. Maybe not on like, /a/, but nobody listens to them.
Reading back on what 2008 me said, looks like the terrible SoL drama is what ruined it for me. But this season it was more the introduction of 100s of new vocab words and characters that left me completely bedazzled and perplexed. And the lack of Shana. Whenever there was Shana being moe, I was happy. Oh, and the random appearance of the Mystery Machine. Best scene in the whole series.

Well, Shana overall is my second most favourite series so I'll have to be poor me forevermore Mastix.
But I have to admit that I'm glad Final did less slice of life love triangle stuff and focused more on the actual war between Flame Haze and the Tomogara.
Even if I must be the only person on Neo to not think the second season was shit.
Lol. You've had to clarify that so many times. Poor you.
I think this series ended on the best note it possibly could have. At least my memory of it won't be bad. Not to say I don't remember the bad, only that I was left with a good final experience. Mostly of Shana being *bleep*ing great.

Epic series is epic. Even if I must be the only person on Neo to not think the second season was shit.
This final season really proved to top everything else that came before it in the series. I really love how the story unfolded and it ended on the perfect note.

Oh *bleep* you Shatler you Nazi son of a bitch.
Too *bleep*ing cute, Shana was too damn cute the entire last episode, with some amazing faces. You bastards J.C. Staff, how dare you leave it off on a pleasant episode.
Don't you dare think I've forgotten the utter SHITE that came before though.

If only the last 52 episodes had been full of the Shana that was in the last 10 minutes of this episode, I'd be in love with Shana. I have to say. The Shana this episode made me remember why I loved the first season, and why I wound up hating the second, and really put an emphasis on how much she was absent this season. I love Shana's design and her character, but she wasn't in this season. I haven't daw'd at Shana like this for many years. And this elicited the biggest daw of the series.
Still doesn't make up for 52 episodes of terrible. But Shana you adorable tsundere you. YUJI NO BAKA!!! BAKA BAKA BAKA!!!
I COULD HAVE BEEN WITH YOU ALL ALONG!!!
