The stargate in the replicator sattelite had only 8 chevrons. Is this a BIG mistake, or am I missing something?

Well, since SG1 is over, I was more thinking about Atlantis, and you'd expect that the Asgard are at least interested in Atlantis themselves.

If you remember watching end of season 9, even the Asgard ships couldn't do anything against the Ori, so the need for the Asgard has really gone down now. The SGC don't rely on the Tok'ra, Jaffa or frankly anyone any more, personally I think that's good, it means that they've really matured over the time.
I just want to see the Furlings to be honest, an episode with them would be loved by all.

While that is true, the humans are supposed to have an alliance with the Asgard, yet the Asgard aren't around very often anymore.

I think the days of Thor are gone, I don't remember seeing him even once in season 9 or 10 of SG1. I think they'll tone down on the Asgard though, it was quite expensive for them, and I'd rather they spend money on CGI like the season finale.

Well, they didn't really set up a base there either, they just occupied it. But I see your point. However, it seems the third series might start before a nine symbol address is introduced. So I doubt they will do it there. I hope they introduce one in Atlantis. And I'm also hoping we're going to see some more Asgard again, I miss Thor.

I meant in terms of travelling, and sure they travelled to Othalla quite a bit in Stargate, they didn't really set up a base there, which they did in Stargate Atlantis.

No, the eighth chevron was introduced in the episode "the fifth race" (episode 2x15 of SG1). O'Neill had the ancient repository of knowledge downloaded into his brain, and used the knowledge to create a power source and contact the Asgard in a different galaxy (8 symbol address).

I don't know, but it begs the question, the first show used 7, the second show brought the 8th chevron, so what will the 3rd show bring
They'd need an actual Stargate Address as well though, otherwise they'll have 1/37^9 chance of connecting to an existing gate (approx)

They could just fly to one and try it out. But then again, without any indication of what it might do, they probably aren't going to try. Maybe they could come across an ancient repository in Pegasus and whoever becomes ancient uses the ninth chevron to get himself somewhere where he can be saved.

Well like the 8th Chevron adds a different distance calculation, the 9th probably adds a further distance calculation. So whilst the 8th is different universe, 9th maybe something new altogether, and maybe like you said, different dimensions. They'd need A LOT of power to power the 9th chevron.
They should try it the next time they come across a black hole
