The AI characters can "care for themselves" according to project leader Roman Campos Oriola; enemies will be aggressive, moving around objects and the environment to attack the player (like jumping on a table instead of running around). The developers hold the computer game F.E.A.R. as their standard for the AI.

The AI will also be completely unique, with an option that allows the player to force the enemy mob bosses to surrender, rather than take their lives. This is done by disarming the boss and holding them at the player's mercy instead of killing them. (A Game Informer article mentions this can be done by stopping the katana's swing a fraction of a second before it could inflict a killing blow, or shooting the gun out of their hand.) This actually becomes beneficial, as the bosses may then help the player if the player can convince them to join the player's faction, possibly handing over new weapons or paths. A violent approach will also be possible, but it will not be as beneficial, wise, or encouraged. The bosses' factions may actually join Tokai (instead of the player) in his quest for Yakuza control, making the final confrontation with the mobster more difficult.

This is going to blow my mind.

It'll likely start of quite easy and become progressively harder like most games do.

I'm hoping the AI has a nice range of difficulty, I may find Red Steel to be hard or confusing at first.

Red Steel's AI seems to be more focussed around scripted movements. That's essentially not a bad thing, it just means that they probably won't be as good as fighting and defending after their initial movements.

Tainted, even though that seems bad (though I've never played F.E.A.R., so I wouldn't know how good quality that is), movements are predictable for even human players when they're under fire. Obviously it will be to somehow get some kind of cover or be able to dodge and shoot. But those are basic essentials, if you are talking about them moving right to your line of fire everytime you shoot, then pulling out a gun, ducking behind whatever object is there, getting up and shooting you, everytime single time you shoot, that would be terrible. And I hope that's not the case.

I'm expecting the AI to be excellent. If not, near perfect.

So, i keep forgetting we have so many specific threads.

Anyway, come the 14th we will see Red Steel, but everyone already knows that. That being said, are you still expecting the AI to be F.E.A.R quality? As much as i would like the AI to be that good, i am expecting somewhat smart baddies that do predictable things to get out of the way of fire. Probably the enemies will do the same thing every playthrough, even if it looks like they are very smart. Hopefully i am wrong, but that is what i think.

It's an interesting thought...weither we can actually judge the graphics of this game when all we have seen are small (supposedly low quality) clips on the internet.

The question is weither the clips themselves are low quality or the actual graphics are bad. Now there's a thought.

I don't really think that's true

I agree that they weren't braindead, but they definately could've been better. I hope they just made the demo easier, because if they didn't, this game seems to be slipping a bit. I am still waiting for a video that shohwcases graphics, because in the two that i saw the video was bad quality and i couldn't see te graphics like i hoped to.
