I've been wanting to do this for awhile now but wasn't quite sure how I wanted to organize it. With all the recent changes I've been making in the forum I thought now would be a good idea to get off my fanny and get this started. ^^;

Ok, now you are all wondering what the heck I am talking about. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place where the forum members & guests can discuss things in the forum. If you have any suggestions to improve the forum or wish to offer any constructive feedback on any changes made or just in general on how things have been in this forum here is the place to do so.

Likewise, if you have any concerns / questions about the forum and the way it is run, and would like the feedback of your peers (which you can't get with a PM) then by all means post it here. An example of which could include a clarification on a forum rule.

I will also use this thread to make any announcements that effect this forum.

To start things off, some of you have probably noticed a few changes already, namely the un-floating of 2 threads (Manga Discussion & Anime Announcements). In the past the super moderators always seemed to be of the opinion that the fewer sticky threads the better. Thus those two threads have been chosen to be un-stickied, however links for them as well as a link to the Anime GD have been added to the Forum Header courtesy of my Co-Moderator VeGiTAX2.

Originally the Manga Discussion thread was stickied as an experiment to see how much interest people had in discussing manga, because at the time people weren't sure where to discuss Manga and we didn't have any manga title threads available to work with. With a growing list of manga titles, and a growing awareness that posting about manga in this forum is perfectly acceptable, the Manga GD isn't needed as some kind of sign post anymore.

As for Anime Announcements, the thread wasn't making much of an impact as a sticky and was frequently overlooked. I'm hoping that by unsticky-ing it that it will actually generate more interest whenever someone makes a time relevant post and it pops back up to the top of the forum.

There has been another change made, or rather an alteration, that I doubt most people are aware of. I've been working on up-dating the Title Index (*Laughs sheepishly at the folks that are no doubt saying, "About damn time"). In addition to slowly adding in titles I may have overlooked, I've been adding links to previous incarnations of threads that have generated more then 1 discussion thread. No this has not been completed, and yes I am still working on it. I would appreciate any feedback on how the indexes look, and how useful you find them. If you have any suggestions for improving them, by all means post that here.

Haha. I know that's the case. We don't really venture out much. My fear is that if we completely veer away from anime, the visitors who drop by from google or from somewhere else on Neo will see an impenetrable GD of people talking about each others unique interests, when they came wanting to talk about anime. As long as we drift around that subject, anyone looking in will have that in common with us and will be able to join.

That's my reasoning, at least.

Hmm, I can't really reiterate my stance on GD any better, but the point that having an "offtopic GD" will tighten the bonds of our circle here doesn't really stand true. Sure, they can converse about more things and such. But I think the group are already quite friendly, we've had multiple activities here that really brought the place together (watching anime and karaoke afterparty, anyone?). NeoEva still pops up whenever a member finds the time o3o.

I guess it's not whether a offtopic GD will raise any issues. It's whether we really need one. It's a nice idea, but has our forum atrophied to such a dead state that actually need one? Anime/Manga can never get old, afterall. There's new releases every season, and threads are made to accompany that.

Really, the bountiful amount of GDs in Neoseeker forums actually usurps our activity, anime/manga is really prevalent. I'd just feel bad if we'd stoop to taking some other forum's activity o3o. Gotta break the cycle somehow!

But at the same time, most members here (correct me if I'm wrong) don't venture out this place anyway. I don't see many issues with using a GD as a social hub, since we have our own circle here. We could just bring that circle closer together e.g the Survival Horror forum

I've seen offtopic GDs get "hijacked" by other members who do nothing but talk in the offtopic GD, using it as a social hub. Whilst that generates activity, these members rarely venture outside of it.

We do actually have a Off-topic thread, but I'm torn about whether or not we should have one. I lean against it. Off-topic discussion threads in game forums are used to sustain a gaming forum community after discussion about a game has long tired out. It's a symptom of the death-throws of a game forum. That shouldn't be a problem for anime. There's always new content and new shows to discuss. That said, I'm always kind of afraid if I create one of these threads, it'll kill our on-topic GD. I mean, our On-Topic GD is already pretty loose. I fully allow discussions about your personal interests and getting to know each other. It's as close to being off-topic as it can be while still barely being on topic. Animalover may have other opinions on this, and if you have any reason why you really want an off-topic, I'm happy to listen. Like I said, I don't have strong opinions. Just some worries.

I think it would be best to remove any sort of limitations and let it become just GD without anime in the title. Like GD-Off topic or something like that.
