Bronze- Member made Iron- Member made Steel- Member made Black- Where the hell did this come from? Mithril- Member made Adamant- Member made Rune- Member made? Dragon- Where the hell...

not sure if anyone has said this but i think steel was originally 10 defence then they moved it down to 5 and then created black as a 'cool' armour lol.

Well there was this bunch of homos who just discovered a new trend:mithril armour (coz its dark blue, it made them horny).anyways one day they all fell in the ectophuntus' underground pool of slime, thinking it was...something else then slime .The ghost-crap (so-called 'ectoplasm...)made their armour rust and decay at a very fast rate.But since once ghosts are destroyed and they still stay around in a weak form, the ectoplasm had the same effect:It decayed the armour, yet the armour remained, in a weakened and altered shape. The homos, sad that their beautiful mithril armour broke and became black like coal started giving it to charity, and threw it at monsters(exlpaining monster drops)(we shall mention that since the armer is now black and it looks like coal, the homos rejected it because coal makes them dirty).They also gave the secret of mith-to-black armor to those who received the free armer.these mans started dying there mith armer into black, and so this armer is born.
this raising an important question:since mithril is converted to black via a long process why is it cheaper the mith?

I think jagex got slammed for segregation, so they made black armor to equal white armor. White armor used to be better than dragon, but now they are equal.
