It is suggested by Ubisoft (makers of Grandia 2 for the PC) that if you are having problems with the game you should get the newest versions of Direct X as well as Windows Media Player.
If you are having trouble beating Milenia when you meet her, that is because you are supposed to lose to her. But if she will not cast Zap on you, I'm afraid you are out of luck. A suggestion to beat her it to defend the whole time, and hopefully she'll cast Burn on you, and then after a few turns she will cast Zap.
All of you PC owners have to realize that this is the Dreamcast versions forum, so while we can help you with gameplay problems, we cannot help you with system problems. Hopefully Ubisoft will release a patch soon to fix the problems with it.

When i moved my grandia2 folder to the desktop to screw around with video files, it couldnt find my saves. When i moved it back to C://programfiles it was able to find the saves again. if you dont have the game folder in program files, try moving it there and start it up again.

Okay. Install the game. then exract the disc two folders two your directories(fixes the black screen on startup).. simple.
Now Set compatability to XP S2, 98/me doesnt matter.
For the AVI problem Download the codec K-Lite free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm
MAKE SURE TO READ THE INSTALL When it asked what codecs u want. make sure to go down to Windows media player MAKE SURE TO GET .AFS codec. This should fix the milenia fallen wing, start cinematics, and new game cinematics.
These are the problems i've had..
Other problems currently experienced are the Rotate buttons. I used a controller bound mine to right/left trig. but tested it out with A and D they both seemed to work for me.
for the GMConfig. Make sure to not go past x16bit or else the game looks like shit and will cause minor graphical problems.
other than these this should fix all problems you have or that i have experienced. Spent an up of 5 hours going through all these. hope this helps some of you grandia players. GL.

Its getting anoying now -.- taking the caps from the movie files did the trick, scenes and battle movier are working, but now, when i defeat the claws of valmar in Cyrum, after Roan "stabs" the plant, the game crashes -.- help!

ok so im gonna tell yall what i've had to do to get it working up to durham caves at least
it started with it auto minimising at both intro pieces vga.log and vubi i had to change the names of the two files but i was able to play til i had the fight with millenia constant stram spam switching to meanie mode had an immediate effect on her attacks now with the fallen wings issue i couldn't do that alone the G2btlfix.rar is whats needed and i'm super grateful now it wasn't working for me til i moved the vubi file to the visual folder and took away the caps so if it's not working for you it could be that you need to move the vubi file

i installed codecs etc but in game videos come upside-down. when i open them in media player or others, there is no prob.
and the game works great, minus the intro/cutscenes/atacks movies, and I've tried EVERYTHING that everyone said that work, but still nothing =\ any guesses to what might be happening?
Win 7 in 64, tried every codec pack and compat. mode.
