Name: Zymic Link:Clicky Here! Price: Free! Good or Bad: BRILLIANT!. It's free, and it can compete with the 'pay hosting' Space given: 5000/6000MB (5/6GB) There are two listed. I think it is 5000MB though Max Bandwidth: 50000MB (50GB) mySQL/PHP: Yes, both available. 3 MySQL accounts, PHP ver. 5.2.12 Others: Free subdomain (vndv.com, uuuq.com, etc...), free templates available, FTP management, no forced ads, free forum/irc support available. Unlimited website accounts, per actual Zymic account alloweed. Comments: Great free host. One or two negatives is that PHP Safe Mode is turned on, and there are some other minor restrictions such as FSockOpen is disabled, and restrictions on file sizes and types (no music or video files, no iPBB), bandwidth and diskspace restrictions removed. They have got some planned upgrades that you can pay for. I'm unsure as to how many of these have been implemented though. Still great for a free web host. Also don't know how the pricing will work for those either. PHP Safe Mode being on, can cause problems with installing software such as forums, CMS' and blogs, but there are ways around that in the forums. Also some minor restrictions on the website types you can have (i.e. no porn, no warez, no proxy websites, etc...)

Oh man, I would probably go for SurpassHosting's VPS if I had a job, because their cheapest plan there is 40$ per month :<.
I've been with them for a few months now, and I believe Questional is still with them as well. I personally love their services, and their customer support is fantastic.

Anyone knows a good, cheap VPS hosting? I'm thinking in only storing my site's code in the server, but I need VPS so I can have as much control as possible of how everything works (I really, really need PHP 5.3, but for example), but I don't need much space because I was planning on storing the rest of my site's content (DB, images, etc) in the cloud.
If anyone can help me with this, I will appreciate it. I have found some but I really don't like the 20$ price for month, specially since I only get 100$ a month.

I don't mean to sound like a spammer like the post above me, but dreamhost seems like a good host. Unlimited disk space, databases and bandwidth.

I personally like http://www.forumotion.com It's not a downloadable type of forum, but it is very customizable, easy to use, and if you know what you are doing you can make a damn good looking board.

Perhaps this thread needs to be pruned; a lot of those posts are old or out of date.

Okay, I know there is 10 pages full of hosts, but none of them are what I am looking for.
It needs to be free, and I don't want the url to have some endless crap or something. Something that ends with .netne.net or something is fine. That's what my previous site was, but I can't exactly log onto it anymore (don't know why).
Any help is greatly appreciated. (:

HostGator is good, and trust me, there is no better host unless you need off-shore.
