Well, I bought the game used, but it was never opened. When I put it in the PS2 (right out of the package, not a scratch on the disc) and the screen keeps saying "Disc read error". Does this mean theres something wrong with the disc, or the PS2? I was going to take it back if it was the disc, but I didnt know if it was the disc or the PS2. Does anyone knows what's wrong?

Hmm... I don't get this problem at all, PS2 reads disc fine and saves fine I get the feeling that everyone who says they get a Memory card curruption error usually means that you ethier not useing an offical memory card or your PS2 dosn't support that particular band of 3rd party card, you can always buy a 2nd hand offical memory card and this should solve your save problems.
The disc error could be a one of two problems this is a well known fact: 1: The disc is faulty such as it's been warped which will effect the loading obviously or the disc is defective when it left the manufacturer, which in your case you will need to buy another copy. But try it in someone elses PS2 or PSone and see if it works,if it does then read 2.
2: This other problem normally occurs when the PS2 laser gets dirty Iv'e been there and it is a pain in the *BLEEP* with the older PS2, so eathier find a decent DVD drive disc cleaner if it helps if not then it looks like it will need to be cleaned by someone who knows how to do this. Or just buy another PS2.
If your PS2 is the newer smaller model then this is easy and you can do it yourself, just use an anti-static hover around the vents of the PStwo and the back where the bigger air gaps are also, then simply clen the laser with the vacume cleaner by holding the vacume cleaner just over the laser, hold it on top of the laser for about two seconds and remove the pipe and then place it back over the laser again repeate about 4-6 times and this should solve your problems, as iv'e cleaned mines this way.

Yeah, it works with other games...I even went out and bought a new one. I tried a PS1 memory card (which might've been a bad idea ) and it actually let me chose which slot to save in. When I chose the PS1 memory card slot, it says its damaged, so that didnt work... It must be that the game is corrupted.
Thank you for your help though. Without it, I might still be running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to figure out whats wrong.
No problem, Ill alwauys be here if you need any help

Dont feel dumb, other people also have this problems, anyways can your Memory Card work with other games? Or not if then your Harvest Moon CD is either corrupted or something..

Yes, it's original. It has the whole licensed thing on the back with Sony. And I think the problem I'm having is the reason why its not letting me save. I got the game running, but its not allowing me to save it. The screen keeps saying that there is no memory card in slot one or slot two, even though there is. I think (now Im just thinking, Im a total dummy when it comes to tech stuff...) that the problem I was having has affected the reason why I cant save... Do I need a PS1 memory card? Because Im using a PS2 memory card...
ugggh...I feel so dumb asking all these questions ^^"

He obviously doesnt know that PSone games can be played on the PS2, anyways is your disc an original one because a copy or a "pirated copy" wont usually work with "original" consoles..
