Wow, I've read nearly this whole thread and the names you guys came up with made me laugh or made a lot of sense. Tales of Symphonia is my all time favorite game, and this thread was really fun to read. Thanks guys

According to the Norse Mythology the tree is named Yggdrasil. And it says so on the Wiki page that some of the names like "Yggdrasil" were taken from Norse.
It's settled that the tree is called Yggdrasil as the tree in Tales Of Phantasia also has a tree called Yggdrasil which supplies Mana to the people. As Tales Of Phantasia are the events thousands of years after Symphonia, it is clear that the tree is named Yggdrasil and nobody other than Lloyd could've named it because the person born with the new tree named Martel told him to give it a new name. As the name "The Giant Kharlan Tree" was given by the elves who planted the tree when they first came. Lloyd gave out the name Yggdrasil as a pact with that Martel to give a new era to the tree itself. And to provide it with love and affection.

idk what game, but in a handheld tales game lloyd saids the trees name is "yggdrasil" refering to the guy they defeated

Yeah I figured that out after I started playing Phantasia. lol. It does make since though. In ancient Norse mythology Yggdrassil is a traveling tree

...except it's been all but confirmed to be Yggdrasil.

I'm not sure if you're trolling but I guess I'll explain.

For one, Phantasia, which is set in the future after Synphonia, calls the Great Tree, Yggdrasil. Plus, if you know any Norse mythology, naming the tree Yggdrasil makes sense...

Kratos is no bad guy since without him Colette would have have never been cured because before Lloyd got to Heimdull Kratos went to the Elder and begged the elder to give to plant to Lloyd's group

All silliness aside, I guess naming the Tree after him makes sense *besides the mythical background*, especially since Mitho's sister was named after the Goddess. *remember, his sis is not the goddess, but a vessel like Colette*. Also it's in memory of Mithos.

I don't think Lloyd did come up with it. Knowing him, he probably had someone else do it... I can see it now...

Lloyd: "This tree's name it... Hey, Colette, what's a good name for this tree?"
Colette: "Well, why not name it Yggdrasil?"
Lloyd: "Yeah, that sounds kool. Let's go with that."
