same for me, YS. it's the music, the koopas and the scenery that make it feel that way. i also liked the crystal/snow palace in PM1. kinda spooky.

Rogueport ... Just kidding!
I really liked Koopa Village in PM1 ... It felt like a nice "home feeling" area.

Marrymore from Legend of the Seven Stars has to be my favorite. The red face from the shower and the hotel. Priceless.

Kokoro
I liked some of those secret levels they had in Super Mario World. And I like some levels from Super Mario Sunshine.

Moores
I really like Isle Delfino, I just thought it was really peaceful and what little towns should look like. But Sunshine is one of the weakest games in the series.

I loved loads of worlds from Super Mario 64, Tall, Tall Mountain being my favourite. I loved trekking up the mountain, and the secret slide was very enjoyable. Plus, the monkeys were cute.

I absolutely love Jolly Roger Bay from Super Mario 64. Its not exactly a classic Mario level in the old sense, but the feeling of tranquility the music gives, as well as the great skillful swimming and the pirate ship, its just a joy.

Other than that, the Tree Zone from Super Mario Land 2 was amazing. Going through the different stages of the giant tree, from the roots, to the inside with all the sap, up to the bees hive, and then onto the windswept top to battle the boss at the very highes point of the tree.
