This short sentence included in the reveal trailer for Pokemon ORAS, it is still unknown what is meant by, "dramatic new world", since the games were revealed to be full remakes of the original Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, so what could it possibly mean.

It could mean many things, maybe that there will be another region to visit after clearing the main challenge, or perhaps that the events take place in Hoenn in an apocalyptic state, thus explaining the "dramatic" part, or maybe we're overthinking this and it's just our same good ol' Hoenn with a few tweaks and twitches, and there's always the possiblity that Troll Freak is toying with us and it's just a little something to catch our attention.

I personally believe that it takes place in Hoenn in an apocalyptic state, in Pokemon Omega Ruby, it's eternal drought, in Alpha Sapphire it's eternal Drizzle, think about it, not that far off eh?

What do you think?

Speaking as someone who hasn't played the original R/S/E I'd be fine with the standard remake model of a recreated region with a few extra bits.

What I would really like to see is that in O.R. Team Aqua succeeds in using Kyogre and floods Hoenn, forcing you to get Groudon to return balance. (E.G. All surfing water becomes diving water and cities and routes near the coast get covered in surf water.) Same but flipped in A.S. Team Magma succeeds in using Groudon and dries up Hoenn. (All surfing water dries up and diving water becomes surfing water, meaning you can bike from Dewford to Slateport and through all those watery areas.)
That could be very interesting, and would be a good move on Game Freak's part. People would be more inclined to purchase both versions if the differences were that great. It would almost be like playing a new region when that event started.

They have already clarified this. I think there was an interview with someone from game freak like two weeks ago where he said "they are full remakes" You see the word FULL. I dont know why this is still a debate. There wont be a new region or a crazy hoenn. It is what it is.

EDIT: It was freaking Iwata, as high up as you can get, who said they were full remakes.

Ahhh, but then does a remake in FULL mean they will include new additions to where it was considered incomplete in the original?
They won't be exactly the same as the originals. FR/LG were full remakes but they added in the Sevii Islands.
I guess, it'll be fun because I haven't actually played Emerald, so even the new islands from that would be good.

Apocalyptic state? Pokemon Snakewood, anyone?
That hack is creepy as hell I quit in the middle because it was too creepy for me. xD
What are you, some sort of wuss? The creepiest thing in the game is a Pikachu's severed head on a spike.

The game's more funny than creepy once you get near the end. To be honest, I'd really like to see Snakewood expanded upon.

Just saw this image comparing OR/AS 'epic new adventure' to what Soul Silver and Heart Gold were described as on the back of the game.

Just as further proof not to over-think it.

I think I addressed this earlier in a different thread.

quote Fawful
Hoenn came out almost TWELVE years ago. There are middle school children (read: Pokemon's target demographic) around today that were born after Ruby and Sapphire came out. So, it'd be no surprise at all if these kids don't know what a "Hoenn" even is. It's archaic. So, the idea is, remake the game to give the latest generation a chance to go back and live the experience on hardware that is available today.
It is a dramatic new world! ...just not for us. :I

I reckon we need to stop over-analyzing and just think of it as a fresh adventure with a few updated features..
