Still not official, but Square Enix is kind of busy right now
According to Siliconera they have a reliable source that has confirmed rumors of the North American localization of 3DSJRPGBravely Default: Flying Fairy. Released in October 2012 to very solid critical reception and generous sales, us nerds overseas have been sitting here knowing it wasn't a matter of if, but a matter of when. While the localization is anything but official, it's nice to know that the process is at least ongoing.
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy won its popularity on the fact that it's made by the obviously talented folk at Silicon Studio, who made 3D Dot Game Heroes, as well as the fact that it implements a similar job and battle system to Final Fantasy III. If Square Enix won't make us a classic Final Fantasy game, Silicon Studio will and they may end up having done it better.
Look forward to more information on Bravely Default: Flying Fairy as soon as Square Enix can likely get around to it. Obviously, they're a bit busy right now. Hopefully that means this is just a delay in PR as opposed to any projects being put on halt.

If this turns out true, I am liking this new SE already.
Do it Square Enix. Give me a reason to actually like you again.

daveyd I'm thinking the same. They've got a ton of financial stuff to work out, on top of their new Preisdent who isn't actually their president for a while yet. E3 seems fitting.

"This just in, the anonymously sourced rumor is still just a rumor. Also, we've got an exclusive preview for a game that may or may not actually exist, possibly developed by some guy who made some game some people kind of liked once... "
I think Square-Enix gets off on torturing RPG fans. That would explain FFXIII and its sequels. SE'll probably localize BD, but will likely wait until E3 to confirm the localization.
