Former SR3 expansion still integrated in sequel, DLC to be "director's cut"
Saints Row 4 looks to be even more over the top than its predecessor, with Volition pushing the boundary firmly in every direction. Much of what's in SR4 was originally slated for Enter the Dominatrix, a standalone expansion to Saints Row: The Third, but last year THQ president Jason Rubin canceled it . Now, however, that expansion is going to be DLC for the new game.
Much of what Volition had in store for Enter the Dominatrix has become Saints Row 4, but the team didn't want to focus on all of it for the full game. The studio's producer, Jim Boone, explains it thusly:
We still liked what we were doing with Enter the Dominatrix, and we're planning on doing a director's cut for that as a DLC pack. So that will still see the light of day in a fairly modified way. It'll probably be released as Saints Row 4: Enter the Dominatrix, just from a marketing perspective.
It'll be interesting to see just what the DLC is like, though since not much of it was known before the cancellation, Volition could do anything with it. Saints Row 4 is due on August 20 in North America for the PC, PS3, and 360, with other territories receiving it three days later.
