For people who like to trade and wifi battle (like me) the constant cheating in gen 4 and gen 5 cheapened the experience of catching and raising pokemon. I know for a fact that at the very least cheating on 3DS would be difficult, the only action replay out for the system works exclusively on DS games and the only way people could likely cheat would be accessing the game through an SD card (provided Nintendo puts it on eshop). Or possibly trading already cheated pokemon from older games, but that would still make it impossible to cheat gen 6 pokemon.

Will X and Y be cheat proof? Cheat resistant? Or are we going to have a repeat of gen 4 and 5?

What do you think?

So many off-topic responses....

Obviously we've seen that X and Y have not been cheat-proof, though Nintendo does try its hardest to patch. So isn't it time we close this thread? It's becoming increasingly inane.

Oh come on guys,
Trading A level 1 squirtle for level 91-100 mew, how the *bleep* am I meant to get any pokemon that's not even rare when the idiots that upload want unfair trades!!! All I wanna do is trade my Venus with its mega for a blastoise with its mega, and still nothing... These idiots are begging for the game to be hacked!

TL;DR all of it

Really, I get it that the people who made their teams by breeding many pokemon and doing all those things in the "legit" matter is brilliant. Kudos to you for having patience to do so. However, I could totally be missing the point of this entire argument, like I said TL;DL all of it, but I believe it is totally the player's choice and there is nothing anyone can do to change it. No matter how many countermeasures are put in place, it is virtually impossible to create something hack proof. And I'm not innocent in regards to trading for shiny flawless, or whatever, but I do solely because I enjoy using pokemon of a different color, but that's just the way I play.

TL;DR version:
How people play or hack or do whatever to their game is their business and we need to accept that Pokemon is not immune to hackers, as few things in the world are.
(Example: The Anon group can hack government networks. NOTHING at a video game level can be that strong.)

Call me out on any bogusness that I might've said, but I've said everything I've wanted to say, and more importantly Nothing about this is factual, it is my opinion.

There I'm done. Back to trading forums.

I think that and then trading cheated Pokemon or battling with them id unfair. but for those of us who dont play with the online component then its the only way for us to get some of the pokemon and complete the game. also it adds a lot more to post game play.

i hope they come out wit some cheats soon [c

Clearly, Pheonyx didn't understand what I meant. No, I don't condone the Battle Analyzer, I was making that reference clearly because it proves the game can be hacked. Also, if, like in Pokemon Black and White (didnt play the second versions of them) they block hacked pokemon from online play, which they are able to do, as they have done before, then no, people hacking their games will not affect anyone. I don't condone online hacking, but for PERSONAL and SOLO play, then I definitely support it. And the blocking hacked Pokemon from online, and example is, I had a Rhyperior with maxed stats, tried to put it on the trade station just to see if it would go on there, and it wasn't allowed. If they can do that, they can block hacked Pokemon from getting in competitive anything.

And no, I don't believe in the logic behind "it's not illegal if we don't get caught", but with how easy it is to make these "perfect Pokemon", how are you going to know if someone created it or not? If you battle someone with legit pokemon and lose, that doesn't mean they hacked. They might just be better than you. I know that logic doesn't sit well with some people, but it's very possible. And, if someone created their perfect IV Pokemon, and used them, you would have absolutely NO idea they did so, especially if every other parameter was legitimate.

I support hacking on a level that doesn't affect other people. And Gamefreak has the ability to make it so that online is not affected by it. This battle analyzer was a bad thing and they are trying to combat that. Kudos to them. However, it is inevitable that the game will be hacked, it is only a matter of time.

And to further bolster my point that hacking (on a personal level, since that obviously wasn't clear about that) won't affect anyone else, it just won't if Gamefreak doesn't allow it. If I want a run through with a fire breathing Metapod, that does not affect anyone at all, whatsoever. No matter how you spin it, it hurts nobody. People seem to think that Pokemon isn't a game to be enjoyed. I've logged over 850 hours on my game and have worn it thin as it is. I want to hack my game so I can rekindle the enjoyment. If it doesn't get hacked, I'll be fine, I'll just pick back up my copy of fire emblem. But if it does, hey, I'll be happy for another 800 plus hours, because I can make Pokemon how I want and as I please. Even if that does mean Metapodzilla.

To conclude, hacking ones own game should be fine, because Gamefreak CAN limit online play, and block certain hacks. If a hack is legitimate, you have no way of knowing because it was made to be so. Perfect IV's isn't that horrible of a thing, because it's possible, and you won't know if they hacked for it or not.

I only recently got pokemon Y (4 gym badges so far) so I don't have much experience in the new trainings and practices they've employed, my experience is mostly off heartgold and platinum (and friend's black which I borrowed), but I have to agree that keeping 5 IVs is pretty impressive (just from the sound of it. I'm not that far I think). However I would like to see a better system for getting shinies, which is one of the big things that I hacked (google shiny rayquaza, it's epic). The pokeradar works great and all, but how about for something like starters (on heartgold the first time I played it I got a shiny cyndaquill). I get that they are supposed to be rare, but the thing I don't like about it is that you're just as likely to get a shiny wurmple as a shiny rayquaza. I actually also saw a shiny kyogre (legitly), caught it, and traded it to a friend, simply because it looked stupid (it was pink, I mean really couldn't they have come up with something better, like groudon's red, just switch the color pallets of the two?). But if you catch a shiny wurmple, are you ever going to use it? Most likely, no, it is just going to sit in your PC forever. Seems like kinda a lame shiny if someone else gets a shiny froakie or something cool that they can use, and yours is something that you don't want (if you find any at all). The biggest thing I hate about some games is the knowledge that someone else has something that I don't simply because they got lucky. I get it, welcome to life enjoy your stay or whatever people have said, but this isn't life, its a video game, if I wanted to experience life I would go outside.

I don't think that they would necessarily have to condone cheating...
Giving hackers their own server is basically giving a pass for the practice of cheating. All I'm saying is Nintendo clearly is not in a place to send such a message. And, practically speaking, this particular solution does not necessarily resolve the problem it sets out to solve.

The rest of your response regards a very meager sect of gamers (especially in the Pokemon fandom) and a lot of hypotheticals. I won't disregard the possibility of such occurrences, no, it's more the probability I question. However, there's a very good chance that Nintendo and GF (as monstrously successful as they are) have long since weighed the pros and cons of taking action against cheating in this way. And, as far as I know, there have been no catastrophic setbacks for the action. Perhaps Nintendo and GF have something up their sleeve, whether that's tech, legal, or mafia lol.

I'd say ruling out the majority cheaters--the casual hackers who hack for convenience and not bragging rights (and who are not willing to work hard enough to go hardcore hacker for a Pokemon game)--is pretty sweet.

Your solution to breeding could definitely work. Tbh, I'd be totally okay if they got rid of the IV system all together. We've got over 700 Pokemon with more still coming. That's enough variety for me.

If players hacking doesn't affect anyone else in any way, then where, pray tell, are all the complaints coming from? Legit players are complaining precisely because the hacking directly affects them. They got no problem if somebody hacks "campaign," but interacting with hackers in meta is a no-go.

And some people cheat to get what they want. Welcome to reality, where not everything is peaches and cream like you wish to believe. That Ferrari you want to save 10 years for, well, someone else just got it by some underhanded, under the table, illegal deal that wouldn't seem fair to you because you saved for it and they didn't.
This metaphor puts Instacheck and Pokesav into the category of "Illegal" you realize. Unless you're advocating that we /should/ be doing illegal things to get what we want.

quote Youngster Joey's Sho
I mean, hell, with the battle analyzer, the game is already technically being cheated as it is. I don't care if your IV's are perfect or not, if you have the foresight of the battle analyzer, you have a better chance of beating someone who did spend all that time breeding for perfect IV's.
You're not honestly advocating the use of the Battle Analyzer are you? I mean, I get bitter at the Neoseeker community for using things like Pokesav and Instacheck but at least the majority of us would be appalled if someone used this software. There is literally no justification for using it and I really hope you just worded that incorrectly because if you really did say that it should be okay for people to use it then I'm going to just have to stop here and end this petty argument. And I haven't had a petty argument in a while.

quote Youngster Joey's Sho
The game will be hacked, and it won't affect you or anyone else in any way. If Gamefreak really wants to hold some merit to their claims of keeping the game legit, then they are going to have their work cut out for them.
Have you played a Ranked Battle in a while? No you haven't because it's offline. Because Nintendo shut it down after that Battle Analyzer became known. Nintendo accepts your challenge. Just because there are always people who commit crimes doesn't mean the police should just throw up their arms and give up, to go back to the first metaphor. And the difference between Nintendo and Evony is that Nintendo is huge. They have the time, resources, and investors that want this game to be as hack free as possible. In fact, you want an example of how Game Freak negotiated with the hackers? The new breeding system, that allows 5 IV's to be passed down. That's the negotiation. Now it's easy to get the IV's you want, you don't have to hack for it. Unless you so desperately want your Pokemon to have that sixth IV, but really most don't need both Attack and Sp. Attack.

Also did you really just follow up the sentence on the Battle Analyzer with "it won't effect you in any way?" I'm pretty sure being almost guaranteed to lose does effect me.

quote Youngster Joey's Sho
I mean, when you battle someone who cheated for perfect IV'S, how will you tell? They could have gotten them legitimately. You have no way of telling. I mean, if you lose a battle, you could call hacks I guess, but that won't make it true.

In terms of "putting in the time and effort" to get perfect IVs through breeding I would say: that isn't effort, that is nonsense.
"I could save my money for 10 years and buy a Ferrari but that would take a lot of work so you should give it to me now." Welcome to life, Guest 1. Enjoy your stay.

The biggest flaw to the hacking to get 6 IV Pokemon argument is that you have no entitlement to have that Pokemon in the first place. If you only have the patience to get a 5 IV Pokemon or a 4 IV Pokemon, then that's the Pokemon you get. "But someone could get a 6 IV Pokemon on their first try!" Luck happens. Once again, welcome to life. Every game has a luck element to it, that doesn't make it unfair. I don't care if the chance to get a perfect Pokemon is one in a million. If it's truly as hard to get one as you say, then the designers never wanted you to have a team full of flawless Pokemon in the first place.
I don't care if your IV's are perfect or not, if you have the foresight of the battle analyzer, you have a better chance of beating someone who did spend all that time breeding for perfect IV's. Plain and simple, life isn't fair, even in the perfect world of Pokemon. The game will be hacked, and it won't affect you or anyone else in any way. If Gamefreak really wants to hold some merit to their claims of keeping the game legit, then they are going to have their work cut out for them. I mean, when you battle someone who cheated for perfect IV'S, how will you tell? They could have gotten them legitimately. You have no way of telling.
