Are you going to nickname your starter, and if so, what do you plan on nicknaming him/her?

Ehh, I see your point azavier, but it's still not particularly original. I know you could argue that "muk" and "grimer" and "pidgey" are the same but for some reason it seems like it was particularly predominant in BW. Gurdurr was one that made me facepalm...

Sometimes i take control and nickname my Pokemon with the names they should have (instead of the ridiculous ones they get from GF/Ken/whoever).

Brightest example: Sandile/Krokorok/Krookodile (or was it the other way around?) = CROCODILE. Period.

It is one thing being creative and another thing to run out of ideas. And sometimes the thin line between those two is crossed. Big time.

But they are clearly based off of Thieves. Hence "Krook" -odile.

Krook, like Crook, a thief. And Thief is Dark Type. So Krookodile is part Dark Type. It makes perfect sense, and is actually kind of creative.

Wut? That'd be a bit strange for Game Freak to name a Pokemon the exact name of a very well-known animal. xD
I kind of understand what he's getting at. Some of them are obviously based off an existing animal but they didn't have to give them a name that was only one or two letters different as well. At least they could be a little more creative in that respect.
Like Hippopotas! It's obvious enough that it's a hippopotamus, so they didn't have to name it essentially the same thing as well >>

I'm going to nickname my Chespin either Chester or Grasshat. Chester the Chespin just sounds so perfect.

I used to think Kyogre was spelt Ruby Kyrogue, woops. My nicknames are usually inside joke related or somehow smart, at least I think.

I have no idea what I'll nickname my starter and the rest of my team. I never used to nickname Pokemon, but I started to in my mono runs then BW/BW2.

If I can't think of anything my Pokemon might not be nicknamed. x3

Hipopotas sucks too >> I get why it's so close to it, but every time I see it my brain automatically fills it in to "hippopotamus" or some bizarre variation. AND MISDREAVOUS. Goddang, misdreavous...or...wait...misdreavus? Misdreavos?
Why gamefreak, why? ;_;
