It's clear that one of the gyms is fire, the one with the giant spider webs looks to be bug and another of them looks to be psychic from the animation for the room - but what gym types would you like to see? What gym types would you not like to see?

In all honesty I'm happy with the inclusion of fire, bug and psychic having a few favourite pokemon of each type so the types I'd like to see seem to have been covered already though I'd be happy seeing ghost return too.
As for gyms I wouldn't like to see it'd have to be dragon. It's getting a bit repetitive.

Gyms with themes not just focusing on types sounds cool to me. Though I'd like to see a normal type gym again, as long as it's later in the game with cool evolved normal types!

The E4 are considered to be gym leaders, they just have a fancier title and stronger pokemon
The E4 are way too different than the Gym Leaders.

I think specially themed gyms would be really cool. Moving away from types would obviously be a stretch, but hey, speculation. :3

Also, in the trailer I think we saw a possible bug/fire/psychic gym, which are pretty generic typings for gyms.

So you mean focusing on one particular stat, Mouldy Cheese? /kinda getting you know
Anything that's not just a particular type! You could really go anywhere..colour (although that's often linked to type so ehh...), stats, size, rarity...maybe there's a gym that's full of pokemon recovered from fossils? That'd be pretty sweet despite there not being all that many of them.
Say hello to your rock gym. ;P

Though, okay, I 100% get you know. I'd love to see a colour gym. I know it won't happen for sure, but I'd really love to see a red gym, with Octillery and stuff. :3

And as long as it's not exactly like Giovanni, it'd be awesome. I'd love to see some strong dark Pokémon from him. ^^
I think it'd be hard to live up to the expectation of Giovanni's bad assery. And they don't necessarily need to be evil either, really.
Dark gym ftw ^^

Can't say I do understand. x3 Do you mean, like, using status inflicting moves, and then another gym could focus on special attacks, and then another focuses on raising their stats, etc?
Nah...um...more like the gyms (not all! Just one or two) not always rotating around a particular type of pokemon but some other aspect (speed or defense or whatnot).

And let the professor gym be the last one, sorta like Giovanni :3
I did love the mystery of Giovanni. They should do something similar to that, although that'd be difficult to achieve without being overly foreshadowed.

Mouldy Cheese; I guess gym leaders have a strategy with their types. For example, Elesa used Volt Switch to confuse opponents, Lenora focused on the move Retaliate, etc. But I see where you're getting at, because they weren't really great strategies, lol. As for the professor being a gym leader, I wouldn't say the beginning professor, but a professor would be awesome, and fit with DNA theme. A dark type professor gym leader? Yes pls.

I mean strategies like...it's not just based on the battle. There's some other component to it that you might need to "train" for rather than just "oh they have grass type so I'll use my fire pokemon". There are a lot of subtleties there such as those pesky opposing type combinations (water/ground quagsire, damn you ><) but usually only one or two per gym. Ergh...that didn't explain it very well did it? More of a challenge than type advantages is what I'm after.

You're right; professor gym leader would totally fit in with the DNA theme! I can see it already :>

I think that would over-complicate things for the younger audience, though they did try something like that in R/S with all of Norman's trainers using the useless stat boosting items.
