So you can do a lot of horrible things to people in Dishonored, but nothing makes us realize how creepy rat possession and brutal assassinations are until children start singing about them. We're talking about "The Drunken Whaler," a song about killing someone in brutally creative ways.
It debuted an E3 Dishonored trailer, and now Bethesda has released the eerie tune as a free download. Sure, many real-life (Western) children's songs are also about morbid topics, such as the Black Plague, the Great Fire of London, or murdering sparrows. They're all much more subtle than "The Drunken Whaler," though, with its lines about slashing someone's throat with a rusty cleaver or feeding some poor guy to hungry rats for dinner.
Give it a listen. Make it your ringtone. If you fancy a chance to play Dishonored early, try entering the "Drunken Whaler" remix contest.
Dishonored will be out on October 9 in North America and October 12 in Europe. The soundtrack is a collaboration between Bethesda and COPILOT Strategic Music + Sound.

On creepy lullabies.. Anyone remember Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star from Dead Space (first game)? First that boot trailer... and then when you heard some survivor singing it somewhere distant and it echos through the walls.. (in about chapter 10?)

*bleep*. Yes. I was actually hoping for this as I LOVED the trailer song to death. It was more atmospheric to me than the lullaby they used on the first Dead Space's trailer.

This song is a variation of an old sea shanty made specially for this game. Look up Drunken Sailor for the real lyrics.

I just made it my computer's boot up sound... Maybe that's why my little brother hates me right now. Lol

There wasn't a problem when I downloaded it.

Azuma I think I misinterpreted what you said earlier. Is there a problem with the download link? (It's from the Bethesda site.)

After I already downloaded it from here. Ah well, no one else will get it.
