No, Sony is selling the PS3 for a profit that does not mean that the PS3 in its entirety is making a profit. Sony wasted millions of dollars developing the technology then millions more when the PS3 was first released, selling it at a lost. Only recently did the PS3 start selling for a profit but that does not mean it profited Sony at all, they still haven't made any return on their original investment which was hundreds of millions of dollars.

Playstation 3 has been nothing but hemorrhaging money for Sony since release. It's only saving grace is the fact that it's still selling units, generating interest despite not making any actual profit after the investment of the PS3.

Figures are normal for SCEI. Sony consoles sales are always higher with 'slim models'...So, PSVita slim is imminent.
