The connector in your answer seems nice, but the part opposite to the IDE side should be female to fit inside the laptop connector.

There would normally be a small adapter that goes between the HDD and the laptop, that converts it from the regular IDE pins into a blade type connection.
Something like this:
Unfortunately I can't find much information about EMAX, so I'm not sure what the right adapter to use is Do you have a photo of the actual connection in the laptop? Or does it match the photo you posted?

I've purchased a 2nd hand laptop (EMAX 536S), without its internal HDD. Its connector is a bit strange to me ; it looks like this: http://cjoint.com/?3Imj2nDA4s8
Does anyone knows what it is and how to adapt a regular IDE or Sata 2.5" drive?
