Hi Ren of Heavens,

I tested my laptop with a IDE HD, its pins squeezed on the blade shape connector inside it, and the HDD could be detected.

I think the use of following adaptor should do the job much better.... ;o)

Thank for your help - the case can now be closed

Just in case it would help, here's a link to the manual:

Tnx for the answer.

The provided link leads to the picture that has actually be taken inside that EMAX PC

The connector in your answer seems nice, but the part opposite to the IDE side should be female to fit inside the laptop connector.

There would normally be a small adapter that goes between the HDD and the laptop, that converts it from the regular IDE pins into a blade type connection.

Something like this:

Unfortunately I can't find much information about EMAX, so I'm not sure what the right adapter to use is Do you have a photo of the actual connection in the laptop? Or does it match the photo you posted?

I've purchased a 2nd hand laptop (EMAX 536S), without its internal HDD. Its connector is a bit strange to me ; it looks like this:

Does anyone knows what it is and how to adapt a regular IDE or Sata 2.5" drive?

Thanks in advance,
