Is it safe to say that the majority of us will be using one or both of these Pokemon on our teams? The fact that they are accessible early on and are so great make it hard not to want them.

When I first bought the game I thought that i was going to use both however, as the game progressed I found that they were boring and over used. With the different type of pokemon available early on in this game I found it hard to keep them. I ended up dropping them and finished the game with, Semisage, Krookodile, Vaporeon (hunting that eevee sucked) , Metagross and two slave.
I can't wait for the english release.

i'd love to use them (since the last time i used arcanine was FireRed and i rarely used lucario but if i choose tepig then i guess they'll take a back seat..

I completely understand what you're saying. For the longest time I was the same way with every Pokemon game. But the way I look at it is that we are in the Unova region and all of these Pokemon can technically be found in this region now, so I will be taking advantage.
I know but I've already used all my favourites. I like more Unova Pokemon than I do from any other region, except maybe Hoenn. I've only played one playthrough of Unova but I've played at least 10 playthroughs of every other region so there;s no more Pokemon I actually want to use from other regions.

At first I thought of using Tepig, but when these 2 were announced to be in the game I decided to use them instead.
Why are some of you limiting yourselves to only 5th gen pokes?? We all used 5th gen pokes in black and white 1, so why not spice it up by taking advantage of the increase in variety that the introduction of old gen pokes has brought? seems odd to me.
If I wanted to use other Pokemon, I'd play their respective generations. =\ Unova Pokemon for a Unova game. I've always been that way and because of it, I've exhausted other Pokemon to use.
