Well for those of you who have beaten the game and met the secret boss, you know he's big and he obviously hits hard as hell. What is your opinion of him and how to feel about him?
I think he was a formidable foe since I had to grind all the way to level 60 to beat him. I hated when he caused your commands to take forever to load. I almost didn't beat him with Sora when he did that to one of the Curagas I had since I relied on two of them to stay alive. I definitely won't be facing that monster again since he still freaks me out a bit...

Riku can still get hit while he is using Dark Splicer, yes. However, it can also be a dodging tactic while getting some much needed hits in. Riku teleports toward the enemy while in use, so I found that can be taken advantage of to avoid an attack or two. Risky? Yes. Payoff? You bet. Riku can take a few hits while using the skill, so make sure that your HP is full before going in for the attack. Do not use Dark Splicer while Julius is in Hyper mode. That will not end pretty.
I beat him without Balloon spells, Rainbow Dash AX. On Riku, I used lots of Flowmotion, stacked my deck with Curagas, and used Dark Splicer whenever I had the opportunity. On Sora, I used Faith, Salvation, and Curagas solely for recovery purposes. It was more of a defensive approach. Not the most strategical way to go about it, but it worked out for me in the end.
I never tried Faith or Salvation for anything but theme "joke" sets so I might try that later on. However, doesn't Dark Splicer still let him get hits on you or did you manage to stun him all the way through? It seems rather risky. Sorry for the Q&As, I just find this secret boss to be more difficult than any other secret boss that I played against

Also, I didn't know he permanently stayed in Hyper mode when his life was really low because that killed me a lot
Indeed. If Julius uses the charge at his last bar of health, his "Hyper" mode will not run out until the battle concludes.
It is a fight to the finish at that point.

Rainbow Dash AX
Balloon him to death since lvl 99 doesn't cut it in this boss fight. He tore through me when I tried to fight him head on. He is more brutal than Mysterious Figure. Also, I didn't know he permanently stayed in Hyper mode when his life was really low because that killed me a lot

I beat Julius with Sora after losing about only 100 times. My strategy was 2 or 3 Curagas and the rest were Balloons, Balloonras, and a Balloonga just use one every single chance you get and when he goes into Lightning Mode, just go up to the building he jumps off of and keep wall jumping up the building but don't go too high or it won't work and just keep doing that until the lightning leaves his hands repeat this method and congrats you got the Unbound Keyblade!
