I get this overwhelming feeling that animes usually end sadly. It's probably not true, but the good ones always end that way. For example, X ended real terribly. The overall feeling at the end of Samurai X was real meloncholy. Final Fantasy VII had a tear-jerker of an ending. (Sure, it's not anime. It's close enough.) I could go on, but I have to get to class.

Death note had a pretty sad ending (IMO), but I haven't watched many animes that have ended yet.

Chrono Crusade was particularly powerful because of how well the characters were developed overall. I felt they should've added some more episodes (they could've done 36) to really explain a bit more and follow the manga. It definitely would have been even more saddening if they did...not sure if that's a good thing, though.

Those don't really compare. The weakness of Elfen Lied, which relies on its nudity (I liked the music but it screamed to me of Fan Service) just didn't come off as sad. I wasn't emotionally attached. As far as sad endings.... Chrono Crusade, that one really hit me. One of the few anime that really got me attached quick. Episode 40 of Gundam Seed was very well done, it got tears in my eyes. The harshness of Grave of Fireflies, altogther that was a sad one. For those who can stomach romance, Myself Yourself, episode 9 I think it was...that one was a tear-jerker...getting someone rational and critical as me to have tears in his eyes.

Tsubasa chronicles: Syoran is a bad guy and nearly kills fai and eats his eyeball for Fai's magic and then Fai becomes a vampire.
It sucks for me because I love fai!!

Has anyone seen Elfen Lied? Aww man, the end of that anime is so sad! Whats worse is that you don't really know what happens to Lucy. But it's still a good anime. The "Lilium" them is beautiful.

I thought inuyashas ending was sad because it wasn't even an ending over 200 episodes and its just a slap in the face I was sad and angry at the same time >:'(
