We were sent this image (below) over the weekend, reportedly a little note sent out by Ubisoft to GameStop stores patting them all on the back for their stellar efforts in bugging enough of you into preordering a game that they hit a quota.
After that's done, though, we're told that Ubisoft has formed a team specifically to create post-release DLC for Assassin's Creed III, and that there'll be enough of it to warrant some kind of "season pass" being sold for the game which would presumably entitle purchasers to a discount rate for buying all of it at once.
No mention of whether it's singleplayer, multiplayer or both, but seeing as the series has had some success releasing decent singleplayer DLC with Assassin's Creed II, hopefully it's something more substantial than just maps and skins for multiplayer.

We'd like to thank all those who pre-ordered and to the reviewers who got excited about playing a ninja with a hood in Mel Gibson's The Patriot.
We now know that people still eat this shit up. We're going to push our luck one more time and squeeze you sheep dry with our paid continued support of a title that hasn't been released yet.
Rest assured, we are, even now, thinking up of another equally ridiculous period setting where history was actually manipulated by time traveling ninjas. Instead of aliens. Because a guy with a hood is our thing. It's our Batman. We're going to run with that.
Exciting stuff is true. At least with three years worth of development you can't hold the idea of them releasing an "unfinished game" against them. Hopefully it'll be useful things like new missions, and story/character development, but I have a feeling we'll be getting multiplayer skins and weapons mainly. While good, it's a little lack luster considering every game under the sun already does this.

They have a dedicated team especially for the production of this DLC and the season pass will allow us access. In a way, I hope what Whelan says is true - anyone with a season pass gets this DLC for free or at a reduced price, otherwise what's the point in the season ticket? I doubt just paying for access to the content will be enough for most people.

I do like the idea of DLC..aslong as some of these things were planned post-release. Nothing is worst than having things shipped out a few days after the games come out. I enjoyed the extra stuff the other games added in but I hated how they had the missing sequences in AC2 only to offer them in some form of DLC.

As if I haven't already thrown enough money at them. >_<
